Here's Wishing HVK A Happy Journey

HV Kumar is embarking on a dream journey to Sikkim, Bhutan and the north-east tomorrow. Here's wishing him a happy and safe journey. I am looking forward to his detailed trip report and log. This will definitely improve our knowledge about the destinations, roads and routes in that region.
Be safe and have a great time.

Thanks a great deal for all the encouraging messages.

Yes, I leave Bombay tomorrow evening on what promises to be a very exciting tour to North East India, specifically Sikkhim (2 days), Bhutan (6 days) and east Arunachal (4 days). I am hoping to do the West-east Bhutan drive, and explore the remote Siang valley in Arunachal (Tuting, Pasighat, Tezu).

The other highlight is what I am terming the Sunrise to Sunset Drive: I see the first sun rise in India at Kibithu (the easternmost town in India connected by....ahem....road, not much of it!) to see the last sunset of India at Koteshwar, Kutch, Gujarat, and over 3,700 kms apart, and 2.5 hour time zones apart. I am also following broadly the East-West road corridor that is being built. The trip is across 13 States, 1 foreign country and nearly 11,000 kms, over 21 days, which makes it also my longest-duration driving holiday.

For this trip planning, I am immensely grateful to several tbhp-ians, especially Sudipto, adc, Supripta, lifewater, gautam and many more. I am also hoping to meet some of them during the drive. And also GTO for some invaluable support.

I am also accompanied by one other tbhp-ian - kesri - who will be on the full trip, along with my family who will be there for for part.

I am also attaching my trip plan for reference.

We are no so hi-tech, but we will try to upload some info on this thread as we go along.

Thanks again for all the best wishes.

Well, we have 3 SLR cameras, but only one of them is digital (the other two are film-based), a Soncy handycam, a Car Cam and 2 GPS devices at work! Hopefully, we should have lot of data, photographs, video and log book recordings!

Some aggressive time targets, some dust driving across the Bihar and UP plains....(-)4 degrees C at Thimphu last week (plus snowfall to boot), heavy rainfall in Sikkhim and Arunachal, 45s + temperatures already in central India.....yes, all points to an eventful trip. The Scorpio is all of 1,81,000 kms and raring to go.

Kumar sir, your south india trip logs ( from yahoo groups ) have been my bible for initial drives in this part of the county.
