Yup felt it in our office too, the whole floor rushed out, except for me because I was on a client call and it would be silly to interrupt them and say "Hey we are having an earthquake. Will call back" Thankfully there were no aftershocks.

I didn't feel a thing either. Never felt earthquakes in my life, for that matter.

Thank God that all of you are safe there. 7+ is huge and amongst the worst that parts of India may have experienced.

Am sure there must be scripts on how to inform the customer and restart once safety is ensured. Remember you are more important than the call which could have been rescheduled. Take care of yourself buddy.

Earthquake - Andaman hit by 7.2 RS, Chennai felt it

There was an earthquake in the last mid night, we in Velachery at chennai felt Tremor very high at 01:30am.

I came to the office at 6:00am and everyone is talking about it. A simple news read revealed that the Andaman island affected heavily with the earthquake as the Richter scale reading was 7.6

The Hindu News Update Service

Do they have different readings at different distances? Its the reading at the epicenter.

A friend of mine, staying on the 4th floor of our building called up in the morning telling me that her bed was vibrating for full 5 mins at 1.50AM.

I, however felt nothing and slept thru the night peacefully! For that matter I am generally unaffected by a moving train also

Regards,

I did feel it. We stay near the beach. I clearly remember it was 1:40 a.m. last night and first i felt slight shocks. After around 10 to 15 sec i felt it again . i rushed down and the chandelier is shaking. I could see it clearly.

I doubt if an off roading Jeeper will feel anything as insignificant as an earthquake.
