Re: Any musicians in the house?

I am a rock guitarist (mainly rhythm guitar, occasionally bass and very rarely lead) and play in my office band with a buncha guys including another BHPian (occasional member @sdatta who is a damn good vocalist). Play everything from Doors & Deep Purple to Opeth & Porcupine Tree: mostly hard rock, metal and progressive stuff. Am in my element with an acoustic guitar by the bonfire singing random songs on request

Thanks @moralfibre for sending me this thread link and glad to know there are so many like-minded people around (including-surprise surprise- supermod GTO!) Be great to do a BHP rock meet someday!

Incidentally, fellow Punekar and Vento AT owner @subodh is also a decent guitarist, though we have never jammed together.

Edit:
<---That's my Paul Reed Smith SE II Soapbar guitar, the love of my life!

Anyone interested in sharing music notes in here? If people are interested, I can contribute some notes from my side too.

Re: Any musicians in the house?

I am a hobby guitarist ( intermediate level, although I do seem to suck at acoustic stuff!) but am quite at home with some of the faster rhythm stuff.

I am a metalhead (thrash/heavy metal), hence I enjoy playing stuff like Maiden, Iced Earth, Megadeth, Kreator etc and some other rather more obscure stuff.

noopster: PRS? good stuff.

Re: Any musicians in the house?

Intermediate level Guitarist/Pianist. Learnt both from Suhashchandra Kulkarni in Pune.

Used to play guitar/vocals in school/college, mostly music/vocals for inter-college plays etc. Not really into heavy metal type stuff. more into light Indian music Hindi/Marathi and now Kannada.

Now trying to revive this long lost interest. Have setup a mini-home studio to record some stuff when inspiration strikes. Set of COndenser microphones, a MAUDIO 4/6 Recording interface wired to an old laptop and speakers: all picked up for cheap from SP Road in Bangalore! Amazing the kinda stuff we get in Bangalore!

Someone is coming home to train me on vocal techniques in a studio environment!

Re: Any musicians in the house?

I'm a guitarist, used to be in the band mentality before in college, now its a hobby. A proper metalhead, I play mainly heavy/thrash/symphonic/black/death metal. I play mellower stuff sometimes too. Composed few thrash/death metal stuff as well.

Own a BC Rich Revenge Warlock & an Ibanez GSZ120

Nice to see so many musicians!

Re: Any musicians in the house?

Any one playing tabla / congo drums for old Hindi Songs ?

I strum my acoustic guitar (with a basic amp), and sing Kishore numbers, for small parties and get togethers here in Bangalore. But there is no one to accompany me on rhythm.

Re: Any musicians in the house?

Hi I'm Anupam. I play keyboards and lil bit of guitar (basic chords n stuff). Have played keyboards for a couple of rock bands and bit of guitar in college. Not big fan of metal, but like classic rock / rock n' roll / hard rock. Especially love "progressive rock"!

I sing as well, classical trained for couple of years. Can't sing Angrezi songs, my voice is too soft But i love the concept of fusion music which can easily managed!

Have played in 3-4 bands over my under-grad years.

Been out of touch recently, so will need to brush up but would love to start again!

Special Mention - Noopster, Ravan, Abhay, Cougar!!!!!! We have quite a lot of talent in Pune! We should get together for a jam! Havn't done that in 2 years! I see enough potential to have a Team-BHP PUNE band! How about that?

Re: Any musicians in the house?

I am from Bangalore and I like finger picking Mark knopfler style of
guitar lead which I follow. I do rhythm and lead for my office band.

Re: Any musicians in the house?

Whoa!
I see a lot of guitar players in Pune.

I also used to play till few years back ... now the fingers are rusted a wee bit, but I think I can still manage to crank out old cliched like Smoke on the water

Re: Any musicians in the house?

^^^ Ppl will be surely disappointed - today I can not play even the "camp fire" songs (= acoustic chord strumming)!
