We can't afford to have him at No.4 because Dhoni is not in form in the lower order and Kohli is not too good in the last 10 overs.
I think there are three very important reasons for having Kohli in the team:
  1. His replacement is Pathan and though it may not look like so but Yuvraj, Dhoni and Raina (and if Tendulkar and Sehwag are still on the crease) are equally explosive as Pathan. If there is ever a need for thrashing these man can do it any time themselves. We need a innings builder just for the crisis situation.
  2. Pathan is not in form himself and replacing him against a set batsman in the Finals of a WC. That's a big NO.
  3. The last and biggest factor Kohli along with Raina are electrifying fielders and they not just save crucial runs but creates a threat in opposition against quick singles and inspire other teammates as well.

IMO they should not again experiment at this stage of the game. Kohli is a big asset in terms of fielding and at times in batting too. Pathan is never predictable.
The only change, if needed, to have Ashwin in place of Nehra.

Cheers!

Re: The Cricket World Cup 2011 thread

It looks like gambhir may be left out due to his fitness, if that is so, then Kohli has a role to play at 3. Other day Dhoni gave excuse that he is comming at 5/6 position and not much time to play, if he thinks so then this Should be the Batting order
  1. Viru
  2. Sachin
  3. Kohli
  4. Dhoni
  5. Yuvraj
  6. Raina
  7. Pathan
If Gambhir is playing then IMO
  1. Viru
  2. Sachin
  3. Gambhir
  4. Yuvraj
  5. Dhoni
  6. Raina
  7. Pathan
Kohli can always field for some one, raina did that for most of the matches.

And for Nehra, I think its his right hand which is injured, still he can take a chance, do his full spell, rest out and Kohli can field, else Ashwin is always there.

I think Yousuf's days in the Indian team is numbered unless we have more injuries. On Indian conditions Raina is any day better.

I did not see that but there is a song I heard at many sporting events abroad. REMEMBER THE NAME by FORT MINOR (Mike Shinoda).

Re: The Cricket World Cup 2011 thread

The BCCI has dropped Dhoni as captain and from the team for the final, Gautham Gambhir will be captain instead. This after the disclosure of the BCCI chief Sharad Pawars links with one of the business man involved in the 2G Scam.

Hopefully the replacement wicketkeeper is good enough. I hope they choose Parthiv Patel he can bat too.

The writer probably has never stayed in India. And his/her upbringing has been in an upper class european neighborhood probably.

India has people and it is noisy. In no way good but that is the way we are.

See our festivals - drums, big cymbals, etc. See our marraiges. Its a reflection of that culture.

Yes vandalism is an issue. But then the author has probably never heard of football.

A look-at-me, I am intelligent then the rest because I talk elite stuff. The writer is a self proclaimed misfit to write about Indianess.
