Absolute sickos...its really unfortunate, but theres more and more of them springing up each day...

I have a couple of interesting incidents to recall...

a few months back, a white octavia MH 04 BJ/CJ (not sure) 9797, driven by a dude stinkin of booze, knocks into my alto (he was turning onto a main road, i was straight), has his escorting goondas make sure i stay quiet....claims to be "famous social worker" MLA Nagre...this was about the time the movie Sarkar came out, where the character subhash nagre drives a car with a similar number, MH 04 something 9797....creepy?! i had to replace 2 doors, thats all i know...

At the same time theres the other end of the spectrum....on my way home today around 9 pm i hit a pedestrian at around 35 kmph, dead straight...he was in a black jacket, black pant, no street lights, walking more to the centre to avoid water...so i didnt see him...i took him to the hospital, and he was genuinely appreceative that i didnt flee, he doesnt want to press any charges (few bruises, thankfully thats all....besides my smashed windscreen)....there are a few of them out there as yet...dont lose hope!

Hmmh! Disgusting behavior from these so called chamchaas of the politicians. They have resorted to all this goondaism since we citizens ignore such issues. But then as members say, without contacts you cant even think of getting justice here. Its sad, but its true. Once a friend of mine had got slapped for not being able to give way to a escort gypsy on Marine drive. He didnt muck around purposely but had to accept such s**t.
F....g bas...... if you have got so much of guts in your damn back-side then, why dont you do something about the terrorism in the country, why harass innocent ppl just because you know that they are not capable of causing any damage to you. These rowdies would have got a nice reply had they been in other states like Bihar etc (no offences meant) where student groups would have beat the hell out of them.

N_C buddy, why didnt you atleast file an FIR at the nearest P.S.? Though nothing would be achieved as far as justice is concerned, they could have taken note of the incident.

TIP: To avoid incidences like our N_C faced, its best to keep away from beacons..............Just let the bloody K9s pass by or stay well behind them

As a regular user of the Expressway, I can even recognize from the given description exactly where this happened. I am shocked and stunned -- it could so easily have been me. I am also exactly the type that would have make the overtake if the opportunity presented itself. So the sin here was to get in between the VIP's vehicle and his security convoy. I have actually done that a few times too -- how else can you overtake them? If you have to wait until you get a chance to overtake all of them at once, that may take too long. So it really is up to the VIP's convoy to stick together and let faster vehicles pass. Their behaviour was deplorable.

Perhaps NC should have called the Endeavour's bluff. I would certainly have tried to do that -- I doubt that a big sluggish brute like the Endeavour can keep pace with a car in the ghat section. And while making a run for it, I probably would have called 9822498224 (maybe 9833498334?) and informed the Expressway police about these characters -- the sight of police vehicles might have calmed them down a bit.

AND I THOUGHT THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOUR ONLY HAPPENED UP NORTH .. ...

NC, Really sorry that you had to face the wrath of these lowly scums who hide behind the powers vested upon them by guys liek you and me and to make things worse NOTHING EVER HAPPENS TO THEM !!! Unless you yourself get into that league and end up being bigger & powerful ... then you cud have him kissing the soles of your shoes .. !!

Send it to the media if you like ... but nothings gonaa happen about it except give you some satisfaction that you did something about it -- take it as an just another incident in your life !!! Why, I say nothing will happen coz a long time back I too lead a life where bcoz of my friends powerful dads , etc we used to get away with a lot of bull **** , though we never ever beat anyone up for reckless driving !!

A few months back .. I had a similar case where the escort of some Punjab cop wasnt letting me overtake him --- and that too me in the GTX and in teh hills !! Was driving like an *** ..accelerating on teh straights only to drop to almost zero around the bends .. after a while I got irritated and did overtake him coz I knew the road around the bend and he tried pushing me of the road but I was too quick for him !! Then I parked myself between the gypsy and the skoda trhat he was escorting .. that got him , he tried overtaking and I wud block him -- went on for a few kms and when I felt he was ready to do something real stupid I overtook the skoda as well !!!
This finally got both the cars turning on their red lights .... sirens blazing .... and me smiling !!! Kept them behind me at the speed I wanted .... then after about 5 kms I let rip and within 30 seconds they had vanished from my rear view mirror .. !!!

Well I did take this risk , one coz I was in Himachal and there cops still are very fair and dont get over awed by outside ministers unless they on a state visit and **** .... escorts from outside are frowned upon ... I knew the roads inside out ... and I knew there was no way they were gonna catch me & last but not least my dadi is the Deputy CM so just incase things got ugly !!! My way of showing them the MIDDLE FINGER ...

But I wudnt do this anywhere else or if they hadn't irritated me by not knowing how to frigging drive in the hills ... !!!

Chill and let it go ...........

Cheers

The frustration you feel is shared. Try writing a letter as a very dissapointed Indian to Kalam and the PM, and ask 'is this India for ordinary Indians, or still for its its "rulers" to decide who does what at their whims ?"

presidentofindia@rb.nic.in

Actually, I'll send a mail myself.

Hey NC,

Best disregard this advice. Carry on with your advice as we are from cultured families and they are not. These SOB's will always have escorts surrounding them 24x7 and in the event you get carried away you never know what will happen. Maybe they may damge your car or beat you black n blue or both. They may just report you to the police as threatning to harm a VIP.

Unless and until you have solid proof and time and contacts dont bother.

Viper, I agree with you totally here !!! Just don't bother ... though atleast in India we don't have maniacs opening fire with guns just coz they having a bad day, or you cut across them like it happens in the US ... so just look at the bright side and carry on ..

Cheers

This sickens me! Incidents like this are becoming more common, and the so called people in charge are beginning to run this country like its their own game of monopoly. You would think that being a decade behind most other countries in our part of the world would keep these rodents busy with actual work, but no, here they are showing off their "might" on innocent people.

Also, strangely, the case against this Rane kid for knocking down the cop mysteriously dissapeared....

Cumon Rtech, it was just knocking down a cop ... politicians kids kill ppl and it still doesnt create a ruckus so why shud a small act like knocking down a cop stay in teh news ?? After all the cops are only for these guys ... not for the common man , so these guys can do as they feel like with the guys in uniform and he cant do jack about it !!!

Cheers

Hey man, sorry for your bad experience. If you're really keen on doing something about it, follow the course of law:

Hire yourself a good lawyer, file an FIR and initiate court proceedings.

Even though nothing may come of it in the end, you'll have contributed to swelling up his criminal record, which could catch up with him in the end.

Also, the press will take more note of it if there is an actual case against him, as opposed to just a first person account. This would also give them an excuse to dig up his last case and question how come it got buried, after he ran over a policeman.

In the future if he does it again, it will be on record with the cops as well as the press that he is a habitual offender.

This is a long, hard and expensive procedure to be sure. Depends on how pissed off you are and how far you're willing to go.

All the best.

With the benefit of hindsight, it is clear that the best option for NC in this situation was to make a run for it to the exit toll gate (about 6 kms from the end of the ghat section and about 8-9 kms from the trouble spot). While running, make a call to the emergency number. And once at the toll gate, stop and complain to the Expressway staff and police. There is no way that an Endeavour is going to catch up with almost any car in the ghats or in the short stretch to the exit toll gate (where you can easily hit 140-150 kmph).

Of course this is fine in theory -- the problem in practice is how to figure out in advance that these guys have foul play in mind -- once you slow down and let them get ahead and block your path, you are lost. I am going to assume the worst whenever I see suspicious behaviour from these types.

And as a general principle it is good to keep in mind the policy followed by the VIP vehicles themselves -- keep moving fast ahead and *never* stop for anybody giving chase (other than the police-- but you have to make sure that they are genuine police and not crooks in fake uniforms). The guys chasing you can't do much to make you stop if you are at high speed -- unless they are expert stunt drivers in highly capable vehicles. This may be risky, but the risk in stopping and getting outnumbered and mugged/injured/killed by a bunch of thugs is even higher.

Hey Shiva, all that would work in a perfect world. But then, in that same perfect world, politicians would actually work for the country and not their own personal interests.

Do you really think anything can come out of this matter. Lets see...NC, who to the Govt. and Police is a nobody, claims to be roughed up by a honourable politicians son with 2 escort vehicles. Who's word would Mr. Policeman-whose-job-is-on-the-line believe?
