Any idea why UPI don't work on Uber? Moving on from Android to iOS and using Uber is a pain now without UPI.

Mastercard get's synced and all, but when time comes for payment, it throws up a payment error.

My bank says its upto Uber to enable UPI and nothing to do with iOS incompatibility.

I used to use UPI initially on Uber but if payment using UPI got stuck, getting money back from Uber involved showing bank statements which was a real pain.

So I moved back to my credit card. As experienced by you, the payment page doesn't get displayed sometimes. This issue I faced specifically when I was on roaming.

After few app updates I haven't this issue of payment getting stuck when payment using credit card. FYI, I am using Android 8.0 OS.

The Centre is mulling over a slew of sops and disincentives to encourage shared mobility. As per The Economic Times, a fee for street congestion, shutting certain roads for private vehicles on fixed days of the week and allowing drivers offering rides to passengers to charge for this are a few such steps that are under consideration. Given transport is a state subject, the Centre will only recommend the procedural frameworks for states to carry out this vision.

The NITI Aayog is in consultation with states on this already. An effective and sustainable transportation system has the potential to reduce the country’s dependence on oil imports, generate millions of new jobs and provide Indians with access to opportunities they now lack. Shared mobility, which is key to sustainable transport, will also tap into the unutilised capacity—imagine the gains from putting to use the hundreds of cars sitting idle for most of the day or ferrying around just one rider when they can accommodate five or even more, and drivers waiting around for long hours without actually driving anyone around.

It is indeed a risky proposition. I too had a doubt regarding this point. But, now it is cleared, after reading the below FAQ in Hyd UberCommute link -

Quickride customer support has promised to take it up with The Hindu and with the authorities. My fellow carpooler had immediately raised the alarm with them.

I am confused with all these things. Am I ok to use quikride and Blabla for pooling ? I travel to Mysore from Bangalore frequently and I use quick ride / blabla which works out fine for me since I charge reasonably. Someone please clarify.

So I have been doing this S-Ride thing since May. It does help quite a bit with fuel costs. I primarily make sure the riders are from my company or from reputed companies before accepting request. I have met many kinds of personalities while driving. I have even blocked 2-3 people on the app since they started to behave as if it was their father's car they were riding and that I am their freaking servant. All in all mixed experience. It does help to cover roughly 40% of the cost and sometimes more. This is much better than plonking a stupid CNG kit on your car. Much easier to deal with people than to deal with mis-tuned CNG kit, bad ignition coils, jerks while accelerating and the engine switching off at idle and not to mention poor drive ability and robbing of boot space due to the CNG tank.

Most people who drive daily have a fixed set of riders so that helps both the parties since the familiarity (after some time) eases the awkward feeling of letting a strange person getting in your car. My advice to people would be to mostly stick to people withing the same organisation, though good luck if there is fallout with them as my case I had for the reason mentioned above.

I had a weird (bad) experience today regarding an Ola cab.

I had booked a cab for my mother and daughter to travel from Dhayari to Bibwewadi in Pune. The ride (Dzire) arrived in ten minutes and I told him the OTP and the ride began.

Now it usually takes around 40 mins for this journey and the estimate quoted for me was Rs. 210. In 10 minutes time I received an alert on the Ola app saying your ride has ended and thank you for riding, the bill is 140. I was surprised so I called up my mom. She said that the driver has ended the ride under a bridge 3.5 kms from our home. So I asked her to hand over the phone to him.

When I asked him as to why had the ride ended, he kept saying tanishka ola something. I asked him to wait until I arrive there and so I reached that spot in 10 minutes. I dont know what was wrong with that driver, he kept repeating tanishka ola. When I asked him had he ended the ride, he said yes. When I asked why - he said tanishka ola.

I was getting nowhere with him. Luckily he had stopped right in front of a traffic police chowky. I asked for help from the traffic police and told them the story.

The traffic police also tried to talk to him but to no avail. So they took him inside the chowky. There he grabbed a key lying on the table and said this is my key. The police inside were also frustrated and told me that this cab driver has been doing this for the past 3-4 days - picking up passengers and dropping them under the bridge saying tanishka ola.

I think that he was mentally imbalanced. Since I was in a hurry reach office and also had to book another auto for my mom and daughter, I told the police that I will leave now since we are getting nowhere. The police asked me to now pay anything to Ola.
