Just 2 cents - If you can avoid using TN vehicles in BLR at least for another 2 weeks, it is better. Especially if you have to go via mysore road, rajajinagar etc.

while the security and police presence is much beefed up, it takes just one solitary idiot with a stone to wreak havoc on your favorite ride!
In one way or other things will hopefully come to a pass after October mid and then one can take it more freely.

Changing the registration may not be warranted as there is a very high chance that in another few weeks things should normalize.

Re: Car with a TN number-plate in Bangalore?

Sec 144 imposed in Bangalore till 30 Sep, events like sunburn etc. postponed. The scenario still looks grim but thankfully no violence. Hope this gets sorted out.

As for my plan, already started creating back ups, don't want to take chances with kids and women. Will do a check again next week and will update as required.

What does backup mean in this case?

Also, I took off the plates on my car and drove to work today through Whitefield and Hope farm signal. a beat up Qualis had 4 rowdies staring at my missing number plates and speculating if I was asking for trouble. Fortunately, I can look like "you don't want to mess with me" so that helped. But it did make me uncomfortable. I am going back to using office transport till I manage to get KA registeration.

Re: Car with a TN number-plate in Bangalore?

I have an opposite need. Have a KA number plate & would want to go to Hosur for the firecracker shopping (bang opposite the Hosur bus stand). Would you know someone who has entered that zone & come out unscathed??

It is a shame that we live in one country & due to the murky politics, the common man is put into hardship.

Sorry should have elaborated. Back up plan - another location within KA though it means losing money on TN booking and most likely not finding anything in KA due to long weekend

Travel by train is the best, I guess. There are absolutely no issues to tamilians in Bangalore. It is only these vehicles which is so obviously identifiable which is the soft target for miscreants.

If you have to drive down, you might get warned/stopped at the border - hosur/attibele. Be prepared for that.

My relative did this (BLR-CHENNAI) couple of times in the last week, though it was a late night driving.

you might be wrong here. there are more than 40 to 50% cancellations in mysore for the dasara. I heard that some of the hotels in mysore are also offering attractive discounts for non-KA people! (which KA people also should get, if they bargain). I believe quite a few cancellations from other states also have happened, even though not related to this mess, they don't want to run the risk of getting into some riot like situation. Couple of my friends from other states (MH/GJ) have also shelved their plans to travel to mysore for dasara.

Not yet done, but I'm also waiting for this! Come next couple of weeks, I will have to attempt this! otherwise the Diwali would be darn squib affair! Lots of business loss on both sides because of this mess!

Could somebody please confirm if the Crime Bureau Office in Chennai is open all day (STATE CRIME RECORDS BUREAU (SCRB), Santhome High Road, Raja Annamalaipuram,.Chennai)?

I will reach Chennai at 11am at Chennai Central via the Bangalore Shatabdi so hope to reach there by 11:30 or 12:00 noon latest with all documents.

Re: Car with a TN number-plate in Bangalore?

Is this for your NOC? The usual location for that is the police commissioners office in Vepery which also has a crime records bureau attached

As a rule submit before lunchtime and come back the next afternoon for your police NOC, take that with the rest of the documentation straight to the RTO concerned and submit it there.

Yes, for the NOC for car and bike both.
I have three shots I think between Thu-Sat so hopefully will get it sorted.

The address on Google is Santhome so will confirm with a few friends before leaving Bangalore.

I got my NOC from the Vepery address a few months back and was told Santhome was an older address
