Came across below on YouTube.
Looks to be clean solution but haven’t seen it live anywhere yet.

Re: Advice needed: Twin-Parking System in my building?

Hi,
Here are some inputs:

1. The chip / processor is the most vulnerable part of the system, especially in our Mumbai weather. I've heard in some cases, the controller box had to be kept in an AC room to avoid it from being continuously fried. But again, that is for the automated 'puzzle' systems as compared to a simpler 'stack' you are planning. Please check and locate accordingly.

2. Wohr and Klaus are the well known ones in this space but there are many Indian ones as well. All of them have a lot of range and pricing options I'm told depending on features required.

3. Costs start around Rs. 1 lakh per unit for the bulk buyers like developers. Could be higher for your single order.

4. The outdoor units generally have a 'good' life of about 10 years with regular maintenance. Indoor ones last longer.

OT - In an apartment complex what is the protocol? Each person assigned a stack gets the keys to the other cars also?

I thought apartments had simple lifts where slots are for the same person. If not then there would be puzzle parking which allows retrieval of any vehicle in the stack without needing driving intervention.

I've seen this installed at an AGS multiplex in chennai. Looks pretty nifty. Never parked in it though. Always felt that it'd be faster to leave from an on ground parking slot.

Nice move, GTO. One thing you might have to take care is that you might need some vertical load bearing columns.

As far as I've seen in residential apartments in Bangalore and the Bay Area, these slots are for a single apartment. So, you have to negotiate with your wife, girlfriend or roommate.

Load balancing might be a problem, esp when driving out.

Think I've seen a similar system by Hyundai. Trying to recollect where.

Re: Advice needed: Twin-Parking System in my building?

Brilliant idea!

Just came across this product from KLAUS. The major advantage is you don't have to remove the other car to park/ drive out your current car. It has something akin to a lift pit, which will accommodate the car in the lower platform to drive out the car in the upper platform. You should be able to dig a 10 feet pit to facilitate the same. Need to check how well it would suit an open parking environment which could see some flooding during heavy rains.

Few pics from the website:

Here's a video of the 2062 in action:

Another model from KLAUS:

This is from an Indian brand (GJ Based), Patson hydrotech (patsonhydrotech.com). Looks like a very neat and simple solution.

Re: Advice needed: Twin-Parking System in my building?

Can someone please update about the cost part of various brands and versions? In the longrun I will be needing it in our apartment of 9 units. We are getting short of parking space and I plan to install a single lift with a shallow pit of around 3ft to fit the Crysta and a hatchback or a sedan on top.

I got my twin parking system changed in my parking lot from one given by the builder to Wohr Parklift 411/5. It has Load per platform max. 2000 kg (load per wheel max. 500 kg). Installed it in 2017 at the cost of Rs 2 lacs approx and so far its working fine and I'm satisfied with it. First year servicing is free, servicing is done every 3-4 months, there is an AMC as well for the same and Ive availed it.

Few things you should keep in mind :

- Make sure the base is strong ( Hard concrete ) where they can drill the holes for pillar.

- Enough drive-way before the parking system so that the car is dead straight when you load it on the platform.
(I don't have that privilege, every time I park any car I have to lift the platform and take advantage of place below the platform)

- Mark the position on the pillar for different cars.
(I use my parking system with Innova Crysta and E-Class (W212). Parking the W212 on top is not an issue but with Innova I've to be very careful that I don't hit the ceiling or pillar.)

- Make sure you have enough space around the parking system for hydraulic lines, wires and switch.

Attaching few pictures for reference.

Re: Advice needed: Twin-Parking System in my building?

Hi GTO

Were you able to get the parking system installed at your premises ? The rain situation in Mumbai is still quite bad and flooding is also likely over the next few days in many areas. The problem is that with the continuous rains, it would be difficult to even get the installers to do their work.
How is the situation in your area currently?
A friend of mine also lives quite close to your area (Parel W) and he also faces the flooding challenge and was looking for a solution like you. Do share your feedback

Re: Advice needed: Twin-Parking System in my building?

I had thought about car lifts. Here they are:

1. 4 post lifts with castor wheels are better than 2 post fixed lifts.
2. 4 post lifts with castor wheels can be dismantled and moved to a diff location without needing much effort. They can optionally, be bolted to the floor instead of castor wheels.
3. The two broad lanes for left and right tires, I felt are better than solid platform types, as they offer you some additional advantage of easy maintenance by providing access to the underneath of the car. It would be prudent to take advantage of that. (These can double upto provide under body shots (pictures) of a car that you may review, that currently no other reviewers can go to the hassle of getting).

We finalised on Wohr. Heavy rains & lockdown gave us no chance to proceed, so have now decided to get it done in October-November.

No flooding, but really heavy rains. Am glad I have zero-dep insurance .

Actually, this is a big negative. During the rainy season or in case of some underbody leak, the cars in the bottom will get dirty. This is eliminated to a very large extent when there is a solid platform underneath the top car.
