Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

Is it a must to close the PayTm Fastag to get a new one from someone else? What is the procedure for closure? The wallet contains only a very small amount, I can ignore it.

And which Fastag is a good alternative? I plan to get one from HDFC since my account is with them.

In that case, it seems unlikely that they wouldn't have additional checks to prevent this from happening in the future too.

Update: Went to an offline Fastag store and got an ICICI Fastag, with activation and KYC done. Went with ICICI one as they have an auto recharge feature and I hold an account with them.

Sprayed with some alcohol based sanitizer at the edge of the tag to loosen the glue. The tag came out completely in one piece after being pulled with some effort. However, the chip and the glue remained on the windshield. I sprayed sanitizer liberally on a cotton cloth (not microfiber) and rubbed against the glue with some effort. With some effort and some scratching with fingers, the glue came out completely. No sign of any residue was left.
I had initiated the closure of PayTM fastag on 19/02/2024. It showed me that a 250 rupee refund would be initiated in 7-10 working days. I haven't uploaded the destroyed tag's picture as yet, though it has been destroyed.

- Is it mandatory to upload the picture of destroyed FasTag?
- Where will the refund come? Wallet or the default UPI bank account?
- Others who have received the PayTM refund; how many days it took?

Thanks.

- No, it's not mandatory. I have canceled two tags, and even though I haven't uploaded the picture, it still got closed, and I received a refund.

- The refund will be credited to your wallet. ( You can move it to your saving account - No charges for that )

- It took 10 working days.

Hi fiat_tarun, I understand you were traveling with your new fastag while your PayTm Fastag was in "closure initiated" state. Did you face any issues with the deductions from the new fastag?

My paytm fastag was closed before my travel so unfortunately can't confirm this. I don't think it should be a problem as the latest fastag is the one that will be active.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I raised a closure request for my Paytm fastag and still see a status saying ‘closure initiated’. It’s been almost 8 days since I raised the closure request! In the meanwhile, when I tried applying for new FASTag, I am getting a VRN blacklisted message! Now am stuck with no FASTag! What do I do??

I too have the same question. Is it a must to close the Paytm fastag before activating fastag from another vendor? I received my Airtel fastag. Still sitting on it.

Only the most recent tag will be active, all others will be deactivated. Paytm did take a week to refund the amount and then for status to show closed on NETC site.

Hi, please check the latest status of FASTag in NPCI website, if it is blacklisted by Paytm, you need to contact them and get this fixed.
If by chance your vehicle has any other FASTag ( tagged to Engine / Chasis no), you may need to check that and contact the issuer.

Buy it directly from any offline store with instant activation and instant KYC verification, hassle-free. There won't be any conflict with VRN in offine stores.

Today is the 11th day since I applied for closure. It is still in 'closure initiated' stage. No signs of refund as well.

The same was closed today and Rs. 250 refunded in PayTM wallet. The initial TAT was 7-10 days but it actually took 11-12 days.

I have one more fastag from PayTM for another car which I have not cancelled as of now. There is some balance in wallet, so not in a hurry to close it.

I received the tag the next day, and it's active. I requested the closure of the PayTM tag after that (on 24th Feb). I didn't follow up but kept checking the status every day. The tag is closed now, and the balance has been refunded to the wallet. The NPCI site also shows that the tag is closed.

About removing the tag, If your tag is near the third registration plate/HSRP sticker, please do not use any alcohol over it. I used a sanitizer to clear the glue but accidentally wiped it over the edges of the sticker, and that slightly damaged it.
