How does one ensure they get the new and improved version linked to Amazon pay balance? Is there a way?

If you apply now from Amazon Pay section on the app, you will get new and improved version. It shows this banner during new application process.

I am not sure about old tags though. We will need to check with Amazon customer care once the dust settles in

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I closed my Fastag through the PayTm app some days ago. I have not received any confirmation about closure, but the Fastag wallet has now disappeared from the app. I don't see any refund of the Rs 150 balance either. I plan to get a new fastag in a few days but have not removed the old Fastag because it is pasted on windshield sun film. Is it a must to remove it or can I leave it alone? I can mask it from the outside if required.

Also, the PayTm app now shows a link for buying HDFC Fastag.

The tag gets deactivated and refund comes in a week or so. No followups were needed for the couple of tags I closed recently.

Do consider removing the old tag, else you'd probably get stuck at toll gates, needing a manual scan, can turn out to be an irritant for you and the vehicles behind you.

Is it illegal to use a FASTag without pasting it on the windshield? I'm planning to use my tag without sticking it and instead just show it on top of the windshield when crossing tollgates. Will there be any issues at tollgates if I don't stick it?

I am using my Fast Tag without sticking it on the windshield and showing it at the Toll gates. The reason was that the windshield was replaced and I have been lazy to stick the new Tag. There haven't been any issues with the scanning. The Tag can be ready even if it is not near the windshield if the scanner is good enough.

I did it using these two references. Took about 20 minutes per car and it was rather painless with no residue or windshield damage.

https://www.msn.com/en-in/news/other...ey/ar-BB1k9GrN

I used:

1. A (one-time used) Feather shaving blade
2. A bath shampoo solution filled in a spray bottle
3. WD-40
4. My wife's silicone heating pad
5. Microfibre cloth

As a bonus, I removed all other stickers from my windshield. Now I have only the Fastag and the HSRP third plate.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

For people planning to go for the Amazon ICICI card one very strange limitation is that your can have only one tag linked per wallet. Sort of defeats the whole purpose of the wallet link. Guess Airtel and IDFC are the only solutions now

Recharge can be any mode just like any other bank FasTag. There is no mention of AmazonPay in the tag either. This was when I ordered on Feb 15, 2024.

Yes, there is 1% cashback for Prime Members currently.

My friend has yet to purchase and is not considering airtel despite having a wallet-based system, Last time I checked, it was not working, and Amazon changed its FAQ itself. May be now they made some changes.

The deduction happened from the gift card balance which was loaded using Amazon pay vouchers bought from credit card portal. Interesting thing to note here is I also loaded money using upi which showed under the wallet balance which wasn’t used.

So currently this is the most rewarding fastag out there. Will have to wait and see if they still give 1% cashback for prime members.

Great! It seems like Amazon has fixed it now. Previously, it wasn't working, but they've changed it back and reverted it to pay balance. For people with a single car, this would definitely be useful.

As couple of folks have pointed out in the thread already, HDFC creates a single common wallet for all Fastags based on the mobile number linked. If you have a HDFC bank account, you can set up auto topup as well. Works well.

This was easy - Peeled off whatever I could, for the remaining glue: spray of water/colin and gentle scrape with a box cutter blade.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

I had closed both the Fastags from Paytm and moved to ICICI. It was hassle free and got the refund in 7 days.

ICICI tag was active even before receiving the tag but I was able to login to the portal the same day I registered. The web dashboard is pathetic and confusing while the mobile app is pretty straight forward but definitely miss Paytm here.

One question that I have to users with ICICI Fastag - My wallet balance shows ₹0

but I have ₹200 a tag balance. Is this similar to Paytm minimum balance amount which is stored as a backup in case the wallet is zero?

Removing the old Fastag

Many BHPians suggested different ways of removing the tag but since I had the front sun film installed, I was a bit skeptical. Normally, the film installer cut the film to run it round the tag, but since I got a tag after installing the film, I stuck it on top of the film. I decided to get this removed by the film installer.

The fastag itself was removed by hand but should say the glue was rock solid. The tag was relatively new (hardly 9 months). Now comes the difficult part - while the tag was easily removed by hand, the sensor/scanner part was still stuck on the glass. The installer used the soapy solution that they use to install the film along with the squeegee. Also, there was glue residue on the entire section. Once the silver sensor residue was removed, sprayed on the entire section one last time and used a micro fiber cloth to clean it.

Glad that I got it removed by them.

The 200 tag balance is the tag specific balance, while the wallet balance can be used to make easy transfer if one holds multiple tags under the same account.
Note that there is no minimum amount unlike paytm, there is however an option in the app to send reminder when the balance goes below 100.

The usability of the app sucks big time. I think the app was developed without any UX & product manager in the team.

Ok, It is nice to see they integrated with AmazonPay wallet itself.
One Q, do you still get customer ID created from ICICI bank?

Yes, they do give 1% cashback, credits on 5th of the month. I booked via Amazon Pay and got normal ICICI Tag with ICICI customer ID but got cashback on amazon pay.

Re: PayTM FASTag: Are you keeping it or ditching it?

Hi, I completed De-activation Process for PayTm Fasttag and within 5 Days got a refund of Rs. 400 instead of Fasttag Deposit of Rs. 150 in my wallet which is Rs. 250/- extra. Don't know if this is by oversight or some kind of promotion from PayTm. Transferred Rs. 150/- to my Bank and Balance 250/- is still in Wallet. Anyone has similar experience?
