It depends on when you purchased the tag. Until 2020 or so, there was a security deposit and security balance. I have a Paytm fastag with a total of Rs 400 blocked this way.
Whereas a newer Paytm tag from 2022, has Rs 250 as security balance but no deposit. It seems like the security deposit and balance are all over the place.

It's really confusing because it shows the wallet balance, while the tag balance is different. And to use the wallet balance, we need to transfer to the tag manually. I think it's best to use the iMobile Pay app if you already have it and only have one vehicle. It shows the vehicle tag balance on the home screen along with options to recharge the vehicle and view statements.

Thanks to posts here, was able to close Paytm fastag and raise HDFC fastag with cashback offer of Rs.100. Got message on same day from HDFC that fastag is activated and got number, app everything.
But physical fastag is not delivered yet. I ordered on 14th March and it was showing delivery date of 17th March. But till today it is not delivered and no updates in app. Paytm customer care is useless and keep redirecting to app. In app, if i raise ticket it gets auto closed in 2 days without any resolution.
Tried HDFC fastag customer care and they cannot do anything since i raised via Paytm fulfillment partner is Paytm itself.
Anyone else facing this issue ? Any contact of Paytm customer care than raising ticket through app ?

Check your SMS for Blue Dart or any courier-related tracking ID. You can track it from there. Once dispatched, Paytm is of no use. I had the same problem and tracked it with the courier company. Either through email or SMS, if not available in Paytm itself, the tracking number might be shown there. Further follow up with the courier company, and you should be able to get it

Thanks for the response.
Checked sms and did not get any tracking number. In Paytm app it still shows "order is getting packed".
Also i am very surprised at the lack of customer care in Paytm. No support from call or email - tried sending email and it bounced only option is via app and tickets get closed without any update.

True, we can only raise complaints in the app in the hope of getting them rectified.
If a ticket is being closed, have you seen the response on the same ticket? Usually, there will be a reply before they close it. Try to read the reply from them,and keep raising the complaint until they respond properly. Unfortunately, since there is no call support, there's nothing else we can do than raising ticket.

For the closed tickets, i can only see the comment - "ticket is closed" no details anywhere. When we raise ticket status will be "we are working on it". Have not seen any other status.

Indeed, this concerns dispatching the package or requesting a courier number, which should be provided by them. If there is an issue with the tag, we might need to contact HDFC.
Since the payment was made to Paytm, it is their responsibility to deliver the product or at least provide a delivery date if dispatched tracking id. Therefore, this should be resolved by them. If not, they should at least redirect you ( toretto ) to the correct team.

Sorry for the late reply, I am banking with HDFC, so i guess they used my existing KYC when i applied for the second tag using my registered phone and email address. They issued the second tag and linked it to my original tag account.

The amount is recharged to the main account and both tags debit from there itself. I even recharged the second tag separately just to check, and saw that the money was added to the main account itself.
Amazon has just launched their Amazon Pay FasTag, looks like it's in collaboration with ICICI Bank, but all the Fastag operations seem to have visibility inside the Amazon app. Fastag deductions will happen directly from Amazon Pay wallet balance. There's a 1% cashback for Prime members, but for me with only ~8-10 outstation trips in a year, the incentive isn't very attractive, but nevertheless it's there.
Had this been available ~10 days ago, I would have preferred this over Airtel. The way things are today, I would highly prefer lesser number of apps on my phone doing more things. Absolutely hate HDFC Bank's implementation of FastTag with no visibility from the HDFC MobileBanking App (deductions, history etc, not recharge). Picked Airtel, since I had reluctantly installed the Airtel app for bill payment etc already.

The challenge with Amazon is that currently it only allows one FasTag per wallet, so defeats the purpose completely
While I was finally able to close my PAYTM fast tag after 2-3 follow ups - the call center exec said some glitch has happened and the cancel request had got cancelled!!!
After that tag got closed, I called my HDFC relationship manager and she advised me on how to get the HDFC fast tag. With all the formalities and details and payment done, the wallet got created instantly and the account got created as well.
The check status check portal -
https://hdfcbankfastag.in/appTrack/
does show the particulars and the details, but currently no information on the dispatch status. The HDFC - RM told me to check status at end of day and that it would take 4-5 days to reach me thru courier as it gets shipped from Mumbai. I am hoping to get the fast tag before the end of this week.
