That vehicle is registered to one "MUNEER R BASHEER" and is registered as a "MGV - TOW TRUCK"; It is registered as a non-transport vehicle, having 50K as life time tax. (info from the MVD department web site.)

It is illegal to use such vehicles for the purpose mentioned here - let out the vehicle for "hire or reward".

I think the hirer is taking advantage of the illegality committed by you.

filed a complaint

Hi all,
I was watching the thread closely. The update on the vehicle part is a compliant has been filled with Ernakulam Vyttila Janamythri Police station. It has been understood that the hirer is out of state to Bangalore as told by his business partner. The partner is saying he is not having any info abt the vehicle and the hirer would be coming back to Kerala on this coming 16th. The Police also told the same and they know these people. I was asked to wait for a couple of days and assured that Police will find it out and will inform me on that. It also came to know that similar case was there against these guys and that was settled in the recent past.

As pointed by some of the fellow BHPians we are trying to give a momentum to the case using some contacts we have in the department.
Also Please don’t make assumptions like

If you have read this post from the bottom you could have noticed that it has been converted to a taxi permit vehicle in the recent past. The MVD site is not updated which is the trait of this otherwise elegant site.

Inform your insurance company on priority. Hope you have told the insurance company about the change of usage of the vehicle.
Hope you get your vehicle back soon...Good luck.

If insurance paper's are their in place, then pray that you don't get the vehicle and get the claim rather. You must be wondering why I am saying this? I have seen the condition of this king of vehicles as if they come back they will be in too bad shape.

Do you mind disclosing the details of the person you hired the vehicle out to?

Got my vehicle back after flexing the muscles with all those involved inthe fraud. Indeed this was an awful experience even with the police. The vehicle is in perfect condition except for some scratches. Cant disclose the palpable facts on how we get it back

Good to hear that you got your vehicle back, lesson learnt & chapter closed. However for the sake of the innumerable vulnerables in our country, I think you should expose them, who knows there might be a few more who aren't as lucky as you are aint it?

Muneer, you opened this thread to seek help from fellow BHPians. Now that you got your vehicle back, why don't you help anyone who might get into something similar in the future, and post the details of the lease/ rental agreement, and the name & details of who you dealt with?

A +1 to that.

Else, this thread is pointless.

Also, when you seek help on a public forum, to locate your vehicle, you could tell the forum how you got it back. Else, there is something fishy!
