Today morning when I came out I saw my car scratched from top to bottom including my windscreen. I almost broke into tears. This car means a lot to me and apart from the monetory loss it has caused a lot of emotional turbulence in my head. Now I was wondering how to proceed with the legal thing ?
1> will I get a insurance refund considering the windscreen is scratched ?
2> Should I file a FIR ?
3> Can the windscreen scratch be removed without changing the screen if yes then how much is gonna cost me?




Any input in this regard will be more than welcome

This is work of a miscreant. Scratches are deep. Do I also see dents? Take it to A.S.S for painting. Claim insurance.

How on earth they managed to scratch the windscreen is beyond my understanding. I guess the outside of windscreen is pure glass. No coating.

Well These guys scratched around three other cars inl my lane, sad psychos. BTW can this be reimbursed by insurance?

Thats definitely some work on miscreants. I would suggest you file a FIR immediately. Then take the estimate of the repairs from the service centre and decide whether you need to go for a claim.

You also side by side start investigating on your own, try to find out if some local guys have done it. Is there no security available where you park the car?

Thats one extreme case of Vandalism! Feel sorry for you Zazer, I have followed a few of your threads on Mondeo and I know your passion and I could feel how much it pains to see your car in this condition!

1. You should be able to claim insurance.
2. File an FIR along with the other cars that were vandalised by the psycho maniacs.
3. This windshield has to be replaced. I am skeptical about the availability of New windshield for Mondeo!

not much you can do beyond replacement and respray. Am sure a replacement windscreen can be ordered but will take time

Where was the Car parked? Regular parking?

Frankly I would be in tears to spot a Car like this, especially if the Car is a Mondeo in black.

If you catch hold of them, make sure they are sued.

That is really sad. I had a similar experience in my car, someone scribbled his name on my car's hatch door. The car was not even 1 year old.

When I enquired about insurance claim at the A.S.S., they mentioned that insurance can be claimed only for accidental damage, not for intentional acts like these.

Please do take insurance advice from Rupesh (rjvora) on the insurance thread. He is the best person to guide on insurance claims.

This is the work of a maniac who was probably drunk. Most likely scratched with a sharp stone or metal piece.

Saw a similar incident on MG road adjoining RSI couple of months back, all the cars were scratched about 10 - 12 cars & this was done in broad daylight.

That is just really sad! I'm sorry to see your car in such a state and hope that you find the miscreant. He deserves to go behind bars for intentional damage to property. Where was your car parked? Wasn't there any watchman around?

I'm also unsure of how insurance works in such cases. Keep us updated. But hey, look at the bright side : Perhaps your car could get a fresh set of clothes?

This is just so wrong, I feel your pain. My car was also scratched (read name written on the bonnet) just on the 2nd day of the delivery. there were some minor scratches on either side doors. If I had seen those guys doing it they would be dead by now and I would have been behind bars. I guess there's nothing can be done except for a fresh new paint.
Cheer up pal, there are worse things in life and thank god this is repairable, of course you'll have to cough up some money.

Feel really sorry for you. I see some construction equipment around in your pics so it could be small kids of the construction labourers, check it out.

I am sorry for this mate. I understand how it hurts when your loved vehicle gets damaged.

Just a suggestion: As it looks, it is pretty tough to catch the one involved. So do not add to the stress (it is easier said than done) but just look ahead, restore your baby to the original condition at the earliest and get this stress off your head.



And regarding insurance, depends from policy to policy- which is yours? Generally insurance companies indemnify the insurance for

1) Acts of God
2) Terrorist Activity
3) malicious act. et al

Since this does come under malicious activity (means other than an accident) I doubt if the insurer is liable here. But do try your luck!

God man..really sick person whoever have done it. mondeo is such a beauty to own, u'll get the windshield from ford however it's gonna cost u a bomb as the windscreen is not the normal one and have defogger inbuilt. For cheaper option may be u can have a word with windshield expert they might be able to make one as per mondeo specs.
