He has added that kinda horns on almost all his cars. BTW, never expected to see a Rolls with beacon lights
Are you sure that EMKE's car was covered by media? I remember seeing only RP's Ghost on mags and channels.

Yes it was in a generic news paper

What's the deal with that car? It's the owner's personal car, so how is he allowed to put "Govt. of Kerala" on the number plate? Is that possible/legal?

Yes, it's the owners personal car. He's the Vice-Chairman of an organization dealing with non-resident Keralaites (NORKA). Hence he has the Govt plates on all his car, the Ghost, F02 750Li, 2 x RR Vogues, W221 S500, TLC Amazon etc.

By the way, don't know if it is illegal, have seen some ministers, like PK Kunhalikutty (ML320 CDI), Shibu Baby John (Santa Fe), KB Ganesh Kumar (530d, S60, ANPassat) etc using Govt plates on their personal cars.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that it's illegal for a person in a govt. post to use those plates and the blue flasher on their personal vehicles. Irrespective of whether the posting is political or permanent.

However, I believe that ministers are allowed to use official markings/lights on their personal vehicles or on any other department vehicles that they may be using at the time. The only condition is that no two vehicles should be plying on the roads with the same plate number. I am not sure if there is an official circular on this but the present scenario is accepted in kerala, don't know about the other states.

Then KB Ganesh Kumar is clearly breaching the law, I've seen pictures of his 5 cars together (IIRC 530d HL, S60, ANPassat, Laura and WagonR) sporting the same Kerala State 9 plates.

IIRC, KB Ganeshkumar's antics were covered by a major TV news channel. Nothing happened.

There is a circular from RTO that "Govt of Kerala" should not be written on any personal cars used by Govt officials. They can write the name of the dept & their position though.

That's a ballant violation of norms, no contest there.

A bit Off-topic: I wonder why they'd put state plates on the Wagon R. I mean, who's going to give way for a a red-plated small car? People would just think it's on TC plates!
