Hi everyone, was blessed with a 997 911 a couple of days ago, but that's not my reason for posting. This is a public appreciation of all the efforts made by doctorque to help us get either a manual 911 or cayman s which was not an easy ask.As you all now know he is with porsche mumbai.I have read many posts on the apathy and downright rudeness of car salesmen around the country when they feel we are just browsing and are not serious buyers. Doctorque is a shining exception to the rule.He knew through my several months of contact with him that the chances were very high that I would probably acquire a pre-owned car, but never stinted on his time or advice including putting me in touch with his senior works manager for advice when I was closing the deal on our car.May he go a long way in his career.

A true gentleman that 911987 (Mr. Poncha) is, he will always have good words to say. I could'nt even get him his requirement (as he got hold of his 911 based on his own efforts) which i very specifically knew about. I am sure of this lasting relation and I will go all out to give him the best of service. 911 is a Cult. Hundreds of thousands of people around the world have bought 911's, out of them only a handful number of people i would say trully deserve one. And 911987 is one of them.

@doctorque.
im 911987's son ....and i guess i should be thanking you as well.
Apart from the drive back from chennai to bangalore,i think ive driven the 911 more in the city than my dad has.Its a pleasure to drive, and is as easy to drive as any other city car in traffic. If youre denied the thrill of speed because of traffic you can always listen to the sound of the engine cruizing in 2nd.
Needless to say the only song i listen to while driving nowadays is vrooooom!!!
A great car and a dream come true for my dad and me.

@sahil. will be posting pics in this week,in the middle of exams so not had the time to do so yet.

Sorry for digging out this old thread, but I had caught this fantastic 911 type 997 Targa 4 Mark 1 at a garage about 50 ft from my house sometime back. Fantastic looking car.

Note: Since it is the '4' it has wider hips and fatter rear tyres than the regular 997 Carrera or the 'S'. The Targa is available only with 4 wheel drive, hence the '4' on its rear.

P.S. I had given these pictures to Manish Asrani a long time ago, not sure if he has already posted them. Mods do the needful if they have been posted already.

This was taken in Indiranagar, Bangalore.

Do note that this is not the Targa 'S', so it comes with 18" wheels. It is a 3.6 boxer, 6 pot rear engined motor that churns out 325 bhp, and a little short of 40kgm of peak torque.

Incidentally, this happens to be the first 'manual' 997 I have seen in India. Porsche do not like the idea of selling manual tranny 911s in India as the clutch tends to wear out in our stop-start traffic. They try to push the customer into buying the Tiptronic transmission. However, now that has been replaced by the new PDK setup.

Hi guys,
I saw a beautiful yellow porsche 911 today at the signal at Irla bridge vile parle (w).It had really fat tires and looked really amazing.

I was ahead of it stopped at the side to let it pass and followed it for a while over the bridge. Now i ain't no genuis at sport cars but shouldn't sports car kinda have a loud exhaust note.I switched off my music system to see if i could hear the beautiful melody of a powerful exhaust but it just wizzed by noiselessly.

Guess the car was driven in "Silent mode"

You are right as it was in silent mode as the one you saw has a Sports exhaust system which can only be heard when activated.
So it was in the silent mode.

I was just kidding about the silent mode part, really didn't know that the exhaust could actually be put in a silent mode.

BTW were you at the same place today ?
