We think Scorpios and Endeavours are big, well some of the trucks I saw in US bamboozled me, Dodge ram 3500 was a show stopper, massive with dual tires in the back. Endeavour would probably look like a santro next to it. F-450 can probly load a santro in the back (even for a double cab)

Don't forget Ranger is the smallest truck in Ford, LOL

Recently I rented a truck from Home Depot to haul a couch. I drive this puny little C230 coupe and all of sudden found myself behind the wheel of a monstrous V8 powered F550. As soon as I drove it out of the parking lot, I had to get on the freeway and 70 mph in that monster felt like 30 mph in my car. Coupled to that, there were these huge blind spots as I was not utilizing the blind spot mirror. Was scary the first 10 miles or so with all cars looking so puny.

Pune has 3 old Ford pickups that are regularly used for filmshoots. You probably saw one of those. I doubt brand new ones would be viable to use for shootings.

love the rams...but the biggest one i've ever been in is a suburban. it is truly massive. it would qualify as a 'mini-bus' in kolkata.

Whats up with masked pickup trucks doing the rounds? Saw these myself on the expressway last saturday.

Only the Toyota & Mitsubishi badges were covered with tape.

Actually these pickup truck concept in india is very bad. they are used to carry milk containers and hay etc in rural places.
this is why tata launched XENON in export market and not in india. So even if mitsubishi and toyota launch these in INDIA it will be a bad hit for them.

amit, on the contrary, the twin cabs are a big hit in the rural markets,
as they are used to ferry passengers and goods at the same time...
it is only a matter of time before more upmarket versions hit the
market, and trust me there is a big market for a upmarket
dual cab pickup...
Xenon is slated to be launched soon and if the tata's get their
mathematics right in pricing and the quality control spot on, they
have a winner on their hands..
i just hope they launch a 4X4 version as well..
cheers

I believe there is no market for such a pickup truck in India, even if such a truck was launched, it would be in the 18L segment i am guessing, now who would purchase an 18L truck in India to use as a truck?

not necessarily.. the tata xenon is slated to come in under 10 lakhs, the
ford endeavor sells for around 14 lakhs, so i guess the pickup version
should be a bit cheaper, toyota can launch a hilux dual cab pickup for
around the same price..

indian car market has trounced a lot of notions about what all wouldn't
sell here.. i would love to see that happening in the sportsute/pickup truck
category..

cheers
