G-class is really a materpiece car. "Galendewagen" is its orginal name which was nick named as G-wagen & now G-class. The Steyr Puch of Austria is now owned by DaimlerChrysler the manufacture of Mercedes Benz. At first the G-wagen was developed for purely military purpose, hence then DaimlerBenz AG hold their hands with the military equipment manufature Styre Puch. As in the case of Hummer, there was a huge demend for the civilian version, so the passenger version was introduced.

I had seen one GD 270 , white in colour here in Pune. Its surely a beast. It had MH-20 (Aurangabad) regn.

there is a white G wagon in safdarjung enclave..........i get to see it almost every day,will post pics very soon !

(slightly off topic, but couldn't help myself)this is another off-roader i'd seen on the 2nd ep of TOP GEAR(season 8)
its called the TOMCAT(i guess similiar to the bowler wildcat) its got 4.0lt TVR V8 engine, range rover chassis,and plastic body panels and it only weighs 1.5 ton.. they claim that it can outrun a subaru impreza rally car !
