Honda official Countdown for release of 6 NEW 2013 Models for USA..

CBR1000RR

For me, the most promising of the three variants is the CB500X

Honda CBR500R - First Pics Leaked. EDIT - Six New Models Confirmed for 2013.-hondacb500x.jpeg

Honda CB500X is new, mimicking the just-released NC700X. If it weren’t for the white paint and big ‘X’ on the side, you’d be hard pressed to tell this thing apart from the NC700X. Like that bike, it’s not quite a tourer, not quite an Adventure Sports, it’s just a practical, comfortable, upright bike that’s capable of commuting, long distance, sport riding, you name it.

All three of these bikes use the same frame, same engine, same tail, same seat, same tank, etc etc etc.

Re: Honda CBR500R - First Pics Leaked!

CBR 500R is set at $5999 which is 50% more then 250R. Fingers crossed, with localization in tune to existing models I am expecting 500R at 2.25 lacs. Killer price for a 500cc if we compare it with Ninja 650R which retails at 5 lac (ex showroom).

I know Ninja & CBR cannot be compared as far as 250cc segment is concerned but the difference is not the twin cylinders in 500cc+ segment. Yes Ninja is 650cc but I see it as an additional 150cc at 2.75 lacs making it whooping INR 1833 per additional CC (pun intended).
Imagine yourself getting a fully equipped C-ABS CBR 500R at 3 lacs . Tough competition for Ninja 650R IMHO if Honda can launch it at the expected price. God save Ninja 300 (if Bajaj actually launch it) as I cannot see this priced at 3.5 lacs and above with no visible advantage, theoritically atleast. I think Kawasaki has lot to think if they seriously perceive India as a market.

Comments could be bit presumptous as reviews are yet to come and price to be disclosed, lots of if's and but's involved but it's a Honda nonetheless. I think we can give this much to the brand.

Regards,
Maddy

CBR500R Leads Charge as Honda Announces Three New 500s

Three new 500s for the 2013 model year were announced by Honda this morning, including the CBR500R sportbike, CB500F naked and CB500X adventure. The three models share frame and mechanical elements, including an all new 500cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin DOHC engine with four-valve heads. This modern, fuel injected powerplant is counterbalanced.
Each of the bikes has a steel tube frame designed to be both light and rigid. A single 320mm front disc brake, and 240mm rear provide the stopping power. The suspension is largely non-adjustable, with only spring preload changes available in the shock.
Each of the models is available with optional ABS brakes. The CBR500R comes in at a claimed curb weight (fully fueled) of 425 pounds. The other models are within 5 pounds of this weight.
Below is the full press release for the CBR500R, and it generally applies to the other models from a chassis/engine standpoint (the CB500X has slightly longer fork travel). U.S. MSRP for the CBR500R is $5,999, and it will be available in black, red and a white/blue/red combo. Take a look at Honda’s web site for additional details.
CBR500R/CBR500R ABS
With the introduction of the all-new CBR500R, Honda boldly redefines the middleweight class and infuses a whole new level of excitement for sport riders in search of superior value along with great fun. The CBR500R delivers plenty of performance to all sport riders, including riders moving up from the sporting, entry-level Honda CBR250R, as well as more experienced riders who will appreciate the CBR500R’s light and nimble handling. Credit its thoroughly modern, torquey 500cc parallel-twin DOHC engine that’s wrapped in a great-handling chassis featuring a full fairing spawned from Honda’s much-acclaimed CBR600RR and CBR1000RR sportbikes. This aerodynamic bodywork also provides significant advantages in air management for added rider comfort, along with a low drag coefficient and effective engine cooling. A sophisticated chassis with Pro-Link® single-shock rear suspension, stout 41mm fork, sporting 17-inch wheels and a 320mm wave-style front disc brake and 240mm rear disc help round out a package that looks as good as it rolls.

2013 Honda CBR500R – First Look Affordable fun: Honda’s new 500cc parallel-Twin sportbike!

November 12, 2012 By Blake Conner 3 Comments

If there’s any question about Honda’s new market focus, it should be crystal clear now that Big Red has unveiled multiple new 2013 products. Joining the efficient and inexpensive CRB250R and paradigm-bending NC700X are a trio of budget-friendly, 500cc parallel-Twins: the CBR500R, CB500X and CB500F. This trio proves that Honda is committed to bringing in new riders and welcoming back those who have fallen off the motorcycling wagon. The jewel among the three is the CBR500R, a fully faired sportbike with a strong resemblance to the rest of the CBR family. Which is a good thing, because as American Honda’s Motorcycle Press Manager Bill Savino so accurately puts it, “Nobody wants a beginner bike that looks like a beginner bike.”
You have to flash back to the V-Four-powered VF500 Interceptor to find the last multi-cylinder Honda sportbike with a half-liter engine capacity. Although Honda produced a European 500cc parallel-Twin called the CBF500 until 2003, this new model has little in common with that naked standard.
An all-new liquid-cooled dohc engine is counter-balanced and features a 180-degree crank for reduced vibration and good torque production. Bore diameter is identical to the CBR600RR’s 67.0mm, but stroke is a much longer 66.8.mm. The cylinder head has four valves per barrel, actuated by twin cams with lightweight rocker arms. Fuel mixture is delivered via Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) with 34mm throttle bodies.
Excellent handling was at the top of the engineer’s list, so a lightweight but rigid steel-tube frame is used for sporty response. Pro-Link rear suspension with a preload-adjustable shock and a conventional 41mm fork are hung at each end. The braking system consists of 320mm wave-style disc with a twin-piston caliper up front and a 240mm disc and single-piston caliper out back. Optional ABS braking is available but Honda hasn’t released the price—if the CBR250R is any indication, we expect anti-lock will be a $500 premium. The 500R rolls on 17-inch cast-aluminum wheels in 120/70 and 160/60 sizes front and rear, respectively. Seat height is set at a smart 30.9 in.
Full-coverage aerodynamic bodywork is patterned after its CBR600RR and CBR1000RR siblings. Colors include red, black or Pearl White/blue/red. The ABS model is only available in red. The cockpit has a full array of instrumentation within its LCD display, including speedometer, tachometer, odometer, twin tripmeters, fuel gauge, clock, average fuel consumption and current fuel consumption. Pricing for the standard model is $5999.

Hi to all BHPians, its been months since i wrote my last post. Good to see the CB(R)500X lineup. If they reach India with a sub 3.5 lacs ON road price, sure they would be lapped up.

I am still waiting for an affordable 500-600 inline 4, preferably a Honda. Hope my Monday fastings help me fullfill my dreams soon (one of them being getting my hands on a CBR600F )

Ride safe!

Re: Honda CBR500R - First Pics Leaked!

All three 500s look very promising. I would be interested in the one which has more upright riding position. Can anybody clarify which of these three has the most upright riding/sitting position?

The 500X . Its a all rounder and will not break your back and would be fanstatic if honda can get it here .But going by how honda priced the 250 ,we see a very steep price for 500 series .

For me, the CB 500X sounds like a great option. Considering that it is slotted as an "Adventure" bike - it will be great for touring and accordingly will be frugal too. Anyway, I am hoping that it will be coming to India. Priced around 4 lakhs, it will be a killer!

The riding position looks great on the bike - nice and relaxed. A 17 liter tank should give you around 400 kms on a fill? Or am I being too optimistic with mileage here?

The 41 mm front fork has 5.5 inches (14 cm) of travel - would be good for some not-so-serious off-roading? Drool drool

But is India ready for such a bike and does Honda think so?

Out of the three, the CB500X appealed the most to me too. Should be a worthy upgrade from the CBR250R. But the dual headlights of the CBR500R are also tempting.

Looks awesome. I hope this comes down to India at a reasonable price tag. Without offending lovers of the R1200GS this is a perfect alternative to the mighty expensive beemer.

Thanks for sharing the drool worthy picture.

Re: Honda CBR500R - First Pics Leaked. EDIT - Six New Models Confirmed for 2013.

It looks very nice (the CBX) but the Indian public will automatically compare it to the 390 (especially if it comes in touring trim) - and then it will lose out on both performance and cost.

I am of course predicting this based on how the Duke 200 is priced vis a vis the CBR 250.
