Thanks!
In fact, I too wanted a base vehicle, only with TC and ABS.
However Triumph has no plans to sell the XR in India. This came from a well placed senior within Triumph.

Congratulations and wish you zillions of safe riding on this beauty.

Iam a huge fan of the Tiger as apposed to how it looks ( tall, wide and big), its extremely nimble and turns directions fast and is hoot to ride and I never used to give miss an opportunity to ride my friends or dealership Tiger whenever I used to get one

Btw, what is the difference of newer versions compared to the first version they released? ABS and TC or something else too?

Thanks a lot.
Yes the NEW XR and XC models come with added features.
First the engine had been worked upon to make it more fuel efficient( Triumph claims it to be 17% more fuel efficient), also an improvement in power.
Electronics has been added, with TC, Throttle maps and now a 'cruise control too!
Triumph is aware that not all 'Tiger' owners would want to do serious offroading and hence the new XR addition is road biased.
The height of the new Tiger is amenable to most riders...seat height 790 mm to 830 mm, makes it a very friendly bike.
Overall a very good package, although Triumph has no plans to introduce the base XR and XC models, which cost Rs 1 lakh less.

Woah, that's a whole lot of changes and I vividly remember the Tiger was already a fuel efficient bike and used to give around 25kmpl ( My Bonnie used to give just 22kmpl on stock pipes and with arrows used to dip to 18kmpl) and with added power delivery, it looks great value and improved version from last one

Cruise Control. Eh? Why would anyone want to deprive themselves of not revving that sweet engine by using this feature?

What is the OTR cost of Tiger now? It was around 14L when it was released. Have they increased the price much?

Congrats again for owning a dream bike.....

Congrats on booking XRX, what a coincidence, I had a Aquilla and now I ride a Triumph Explorer 1200 XC and now you moving to Tiger 800 XRX from Aquilla

Nonetheless these bikes are well made and pleasure to ride, you have made a good choice with XRX which weigh around 220kg while my 1200 XC weigh at 270kg,( this 50kg difference can be felt instantly, try to mount both the bike on center stand without a riding boot). XRX for normal use and XCX( the suspension setup is completely different here) for some off road make more sense than the bigger 1200 XC.

Re: Triumph Tiger 800 XRx, XCx launched in India

Hello all,

Took delivery of my white XCx yesterday evening, it has been an awesome time.
But not today morning on way to office, roads full and my tiger getting hot under the collar. Promise to put up a separate ownership around the first service time (800kms).

Regards,
Veera

Re: Triumph Tiger 800 XRx, XCx launched in India

Congratulations Veera! Man the white XCX has me really excited. I will be booking a blue one soon. But dealer is saying 3 months for delivery!
I would appreciate some user feedback. Especially regarding seat height and engine heat. Also, what accesories did you take and what was the cost OTR?

Looking forward to hearing from actual Tiger owners!

Re: Triumph Tiger 800 XRx, XCx launched in India

Thank you all for the wishes.

BuBooMan, I am 5'6" and am able ride XCx with seat in low position, still getting used to the height. I prefer to use steel toe Caterpillar shoes with tick soles, easier to change gears as well, with running shoes my left foot is sore with the gear changes (I use Bullet with gear shifter on right).

Onroad prices in Bangalore incl. zero dep insurance -
800 XRX - 13,89,537; 800 XCX 15,19,047.

My bike is still in running in, the heat is felt in hot noon traffic stops only, no accessories yet as the XCx comes with sump guard, engine protection bars and centre stand, have been suggested to get fork guards and headlight covers, nothing else needed.

On 26th Apr went on a small ride to Sivaganga hill via Blr-Magadi, idea was to use small roads for frequent gear and speed changes, came back via Hassan-Blr highway and used the cruise control (first time in my life!), it was a weird feeling, the bike going from 70kph to 80 kph by itself.

Dr Mohan how are your Tiger rides coming along ?

Regards,
Veera

Pune RTO takes 3 to 4 days to issue a CRTM. There was a weekend off and hence although my bike is lying in the dealership store room, I am unable to pick it up. Hopefully tomorrow I would get to take it home.
Veera I would advise you to purchase Daytona M Star GTX touring shoes.
They are hand crafted in Germany.
Have a great quality and lasts forever.
They come with removable insoles and you can gain a height of 60 mm with these shoes.
I have been using these shoes for 2 months.
They are very comfortable, waterproof, yet breath-able.
They incorporate Gore-tex.
They are costly, yet a one time buy.
A friend of mine has these and has been using them for the last 10 years.

Thats a good sign Veera. My only apprehension was ride height and for that reason, I was more comfortable on the XRX. But the XCX suspension won me over.

I suggest you get the SW Motech crash guard as it covers the upper part of the motor, all the way to the plastic bits on the side of the tank.

Hello Mohan!

Congratulations on your XRX! Those boots sure look nice, but I have already got a pair and wouldn't want to put almost 40k on another. But thanks for the info. Very useful.

How has your buying experience been with the Pune dealer? Any accesories?

Re: Triumph Tiger 800 XRx, XCx launched in India

DearBuBooman,
Pleasant experience with the dealership.
I have been interacting with Ganesh, who is a very cooperative and dynamic personality.
No accessories for either the XRX or XRC have arrived yet.
I needed the sump-guard and engine guard.
Only grouse is that, they cannot manage RTO registration on time.

Re: Triumph Tiger 800 XRx, XCx launched in India

Hello Dr Mohan,

Thanks for the pointer on the boots, where did you source them from and how much did they cost. Regarding sump and engine guard, I think that the XRx comes fitted with these, let me know if I am wrong. Don't worry about the RTO delays, it will all be forgotten once you get the bike, but replaced with running-in style riding. I find that I am mostly stuck at 3K rpm in Bangalore city riding, trying my best to keep it varying.

Regards,
Veera

Re: Triumph Tiger 800 XRx, XCx launched in India

Took delivery of my XRX today amidst lot of enthusiasm.
I took delivery of the vehicle.
After driving for 10 kms the indicator started showing a "Battery Low " status.
That's after my call a day prior to complete a proper PDI.
I called the showroom again after the console started flashing this alarm.
The mechanics arrived in 30 minutes.
A scan revealed no error.
However the console kept showing 'bat-lo' status.
The battery terminals were fine and secured.
The scanner revealed a voltage of 12 v .
So the problem could not be figured at the road side .
I was asked to leave the vehicle at the service centre again ,which I did.
Would know what the problem is tomorrow.
Any idea, what the problem could be :
1) A functioning alternator.
2) A new ''charged' battery.
3) Properly connected battery, but yet the 'low bat ' status.

@ Veera will pm you the boots detail.
