re: Dilemma of the Ninja: Pre-owned 650 vs new 300. EDIT: 650 bought, now sold

Congrats on your 650 brother. Its one hell of a machine and i am impressed on your jump from 100 Cc to 650. Last year I was also in such a dilema and ended up buying the 300 Mojo instead of the Ninja and seriously repent the decision. (Tried to save some money but now feel its was a waste to save.) Might upgrade soon.

Congratulations! and welcome to the Ninja Clan.

I was going through the thread and completely agree with what everyone has been trying to convey.

I would also like to add-on as a sharing and my experience with these bikes is that Ninja 300 and Ninja 650 are different bikes for different applications.

Ninja 300 is an entry level sports bike which would enable you to ride swifter through the winds and corners. Moreover, get a hang of the power before you jump onto a bigger supersport.

And, Ninja 650, i would say is a complete sports tourer with upright position and higher seating height giving pleasure riding and not aggressive.

One question for you Vikrant, how are the tyres (in wets) and brakes on the Ninja 650 coming down from higher speeds being a Non-ABS bike?

Thanks in advance. See you around!

Cheers!

Kawasaki slashes prices of the Ninja 650 by INR 40000.00

However, this is just a stock clearance exercise for 2015 manufactured bikes.

The Kawasaki Ninja 650 mid-weight sportsbike has just become more affordable than before. Kawasaki India has announced a price slash of INR 40,000 for the motorcycle. The new price is INR 4.97 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Kawasaki says that the price slash is a part of its 120th-year anniversary celebrations across the globe. However, the fact that this discount is available only for the 2015 models indicate that it is a stock clearance offer.

Sunday morning rides in drenching rains are super exciting and the Ninja shares that enthusiasm. The bike was very composed when driven carefully and gives you the utmost confidence to take it anywhere the road goes (and also where it does not go). It's not a Versys or a Tiger but it definitely is not a meek cat.

On the way to Mahabaleshwar somewhere near Panchagani

re: Dilemma of the Ninja: Pre-owned 650 vs new 300. EDIT: 650 bought, now sold

Last weekend was quite eventful. We booked a complete MMRT track at Chennai. Initially I had planned to rent out a RC390 from Bangalore. But somehow the economics did not permit me and I ended up shipping my the Ninja 650 there.

I am a level-zero rider with no experience of the track so my skill was pretty limited. This track experience was very much the thing need to understand what the bike it capable of.

I had upgraded the tyres to Metzelers M7 which proved to be a very good decision. Also upgraded the brake lines to HEL steel braided lines. The tryes offer excellent grip and confidence around the corners. The bike's weight now shows on track where it takes a little effort to lean in and accelerate on exits. Maybe that's my experience (or lack of it that) causes it.

In all a real fruitful weekend. Some pictures from the track.

re: Dilemma of the Ninja: Pre-owned 650 vs new 300. EDIT: 650 bought, now sold

Chain lubrication at jome can be a little tedious task if you do not have a paddok stand at home. And when you are on a long trip then carrying a paddock stand is out of question. So while casually surfing through the net came across a product called snapjack http://thesnapjack.com/ . This looked interesting and pretty handy too. But unfortunately was unavailable in US too.

"Lets Gear Up" store in motorcycle store had a similar jack which they Motojack. Ordered it on their Facebook page and got the delivery whitin a week. First impressions is that it pretty solidly built and made to last (which I think time will tell). I used it before the weekend ride and was able to lube the chain without any effort. The package included Motojack, a velcro strap to secure the brake lever, rubber pads to prevent the jack from slipping on ground.

Some photos of the motojack below.

re: Dilemma of the Ninja: Pre-owned 650 vs new 300. EDIT: 650 bought, now sold

So after a 2-year stint with the Ninja-650 I finally bid adieu to it few days back. It was an amazing bike which took me places without a complaint and was really sad to see her go. The reason for selling I upgrade to bigger bike (for which I will start a new thread).

There were a lot of options. But ultimately after a lot of deliberation bought the 2017 Multistrada 950.

Nice choice. It was one of my shortlisted bike too before I went the other way. Congratulations on your new bike and safe riding.

Cheers...
