Re: 2019 BMW S 1000 RR launched at Rs. 18.50 lakh

One year update

Layla has completed a year and the odo stands at 5400 as of this post. She goes for her annual service in a couple of weeks but since there have been some updates since the last post, thought of sharing them with the group.

On the cosmetic front, the bike now has Lightech lever protectors for the brake and the clutch lever. While they are expensive, they scream quality and look absolutely gorgeous. Since the rear foot pegs had been removed, also added a carbon fiber seat cover and heel protector from RPM carbon. Some pics.

The lever guards were brought and installed at no_fear's new venture so a big shoutout and thanks to him!

On the performance front, the bike now runs the Sprint replacement filter and breathes a lot better. Once again this was sourced by no_fear.

A major gripe I had when i got the bike was that BMW should have had the heated grips, pro riding mode and the TPMS as standard. Well, I solved the first two by getting those activated officially from BMW. The service head told me that the S1000RR comes pre-installed with the heated grips and only the switch needs to be changed. So we changed it and voila, hands are warm on the winter rides!

The biggest add on has to be the pro riding mode. Mine is only the second bike in India (standard model) to have this option activated. It gives a lot of options to set up the bike according to your own needs/wants and gives you the option to adjust the traction on the fly. Apart from this, you also get launch control, pit limiter and the hill hold pro which is a boon in city riding.

My riding impressions remain the same as i had posted earlier and i am very very happy with the bike. This is likely to be my long term baby. Its smooth and refined at city speeds and when you need it, the acceleration is scary brutal.

I love riding alone at times to just go have a coffee in peace and Layla is my perfect companion for that. Some pics from the last year.

Thoughtful upgrades indeed Rohan, regarding TPMS, can't you get it installed from a third party and then see the tyre pressure on your mobile instead of dash. The carbon parts look sweet. The only grip continues to be the Key that BMW uses, should have been a better one!

Wishing Layla a Happy birthday, and looking forward to seeing her in person soon!
