How much is the % of Road tax on ex showroom rate? Definitely doesn't looks like 12%.

2 wheeler tax is approx 12% as per
https://vahan.parivahan.gov.in/vahan...show_tax.xhtml site.. I put some random nearby figure.. If you have actuals then even better.

Hi.

Got the same amount from Mumbai. Have paid the booking amount. Awaiting a final break-up of the price so can share the details here. Showroom says this is introductory price but I am not sure of that.

BR Sagar.

Re: 2020 Kawasaki Z900

Thanks Sagar and Rahul.
As from the vahan website, it seems simple.
10% of tax on ex showroom price for non imported vehicle.
20% of tax on ex showroom price for imported vehicle.

Accordingly, tax amount on z900 should be 160,000 if its considered full import. Please check the breakup and update here as well.
30K as service charge seems huge otherwise.

I also asked quotation for Ninja 650.
For an ex showroom price of 624,000 - tax is 98K

I didn't got the above logic. If it's considered local, tax should be 62K or 125K otherwise.

Kawasaki dealers in MH have been known to include handling charges under the Road Tax tag. This can be negotiated with the respective dealer.

The insurance charges quoted for Z900 also appear to be inflated if it includes 5 years 3rd party/1 year zero dep (which is the standard coverage of insurance quotes). If it's 3/5 years zero dep, then the quoted charges seem okay.

In Maharashtra, for CBU bikes tax is 21 percent and for CKD and locally manufactured ones it is 11 percent including cess but these are approximate figures since cess is calculated on the road tax. Z900 comes under CBU and so falls under the 21 percent bracket and Ninja 650 is CKD and so falls under the 11 percent bracket.

The Pune Kawasaki dealer is notorious for charging 30-50K as handling charges. I see a good 30K handling charges hidden under the RTO charges in both cases. They generally don't budge on negotiation and have a take it or leave it attitude.

A very close call I must say.

Some pics of my z900 delivery.

Finally I had to request my dealer in Kolkata to get one piece which was lying in Anzen Mumbai.

How did they transport it? When I got my bike, they traced a piece with the colour at a dealer 400km away. They said riding it here would be safer than putting it in a truck and transporting it.

The price of the Street triple R I guess caused Kawasaki to stick to it's original pricing and not go to 8.5l and beyond as they mentioned first.
Such a nice bike! I can't wait to earn enough to get my hands on one. Have idolised it for so long!

Somehow the looks of the Street Triple aren't as appealing.
