2020 Kawasaki Z900

Kawasaki has updated the Z900 for MY2020 with styling changes and electronic aids. The bike now features the updated Sugomi styling as seen recently with the flagship Z H2.

New features include -
  • Integrated Riding Modes
  • Kawasaki Traction Control
  • Power modes
  • New TFT colour instrument screen
  • Bluetooth smartphone connectivity
  • All-LED lighting
  • Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 as standard

The bike continues to be power by the same 948 cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke In-line four engine rated at 125PS. However, the engine now meets Euro 5 emission norms with a combination of greater exhaust chamber volume to accommodate catalyser updates. Kawasaki claims that changes to the exhaust pre-chamber plus silencer creates an exhaust note with greater presence – especially at start-up, idle, and when snapping the throttle.

Re: 2020 Kawasaki Z900

Finally z900 grows up from a bare bone four cylinder to pretty loaded four cylinder bike. Good updates these, let's see what is the impact on pricing because of this.

Re: 2020 Kawasaki Z900

These upgrades make it quite close to the Triumph Street Triple RS in terms of spec but I'm think that it will make it quite close in price as well. My local dealer said that it is not coming to India "any time soon".

Should be more like the normal Street Triple in terms of character. No way it can compete with the RS in price.

Will be a tough competition to the Suzuki GSX 750 now.

I think that they will increase the price by 15%-20% and it will cost around Rs. 9L ex. This would make Suzuki the cheapest 100+bhp bike. Suzuki should update the model since the current one was released in Feb 2017 - about the same as the current Z900. Thai Bhat appreciating against the INR works to Kawasaki's disadvantage. It seems like they changed the seat as well, which was a gripe I had.

Well, it will be here by April 2020. There is hardly any choice about that!

US pricing is up from $8,799 (2019 ABS version) to $ 8,999. Small increase considering the newly added feature set.

Hopefully, we can expect the Indian pricing to remain sensible as well.

Re: 2020 Kawasaki Z900

Much needed upgrade on the Z900 to make it a direct competitor to the Triumph Street Triple (especially the RS version). Would be interesting how Kawasaki prices the 2020 Z now?

Re: 2020 Kawasaki Z900

The Street Triple RS and the Z900 are great bikes but I don't feel the Z900 to be a direct competition to the RS.

The RS has on offer much better front and rear suspension hardware as compared to the Z900. Fully-adjustable 41mm BPF Showa front forks and an Ohlins STX40 fully-adjustable piggyback reservoir rear unit.

Besides that, the swingram, the radially mounted Brembo calipers on RS are some of the best bits of hardware that make the RS so much more exciting. Bits like the 5 drive modes, quick-shifter etc. are there too for those who dig tech stuff.

But what makes the biggest difference is the weight. 180-something kgs of the RS as compared to almost 212 kgs of the Z900!

Of course the Z900 has a 4-cyclinders, a higher torque producing engine but on the road, I believe it's the RS which hits the sweet spot! That's my opinion and yes that's why I have the RS :-P

Re: 2020 Kawasaki Z900

The new z900 is almost all the bike one needs. It should do everything very well.

Kawasaki has done a great job with upgrading this. Sure, it could be lighter but weight is something one easily gets used too over time.

A potent all purpose bike this!

Got the delivery of my model year 2020 Kawasaki z900 on the 12th of March and took one week for the bike to reach from Kolkata to my place in Sikkim. And just a day before lockdown also got my bike registration work completed. If the delivery was delayed by even 2 days my bike would be stuck with VRL transport indefinitely. A very close call I must say.

Some pics of my z900 delivery.

Congratulations on your new ride. You were very lucky to escape the lockdown blues.

You said 'some pics'. There is only one pic. Waiting for more.

Re: 2020 Kawasaki Z900

Didn't like the Matt blk color option. Wanted the graphite grey color option only or else I was not interested to buy it. I Made enquires everywhere in Kolkata , Guwahati, patna, Bhubaneswar, lucknow, Delhi and Chandigarh. None of them had this color. Finally I had to request my dealer in Kolkata to get one piece which was lying in Anzen Mumbai.
