Re: Turbo-charging my Harley Davidson Fat Bob

Got new battery! Official HD costed around 10900/. Duck that crank1 Chinese crap.
Got this with 1 year warranty, I hope it will last more than 1.5-2 year.
Finally I can ride again without anxiety.

Re: Turbo-charging my Harley Davidson Fat Bob

Found out what caused my battery to die so suddenly.
Initially I didn't pay much attention to the dead battery, batteries die all the time, no big deal and I had already installed the new one.
But then I had some free time on hand and just wanted to survey the old one for distortion / overheating signs.
That when I found this.

Turbo-charging my Harley Davidson Fat Bob-img_20220906_112930.jpg

Didn't look like melting or overheating for sure.
Decided to remove the new one from frame and investigate further into battery compartment.
Finally found the murderer. Two brother's collaboration.

Bolts longer that they should have been, protruding into battery compartment. Don't know how long they have been there like this (this will need further investigation) but at-least the new battery got saved from an early death.

Re: Turbo-charging my Harley Davidson Fat Bob

Who else is going? It's anyway the best time to do a Ladakh trip, more so with a party waiting to be enjoyed.

Re: Turbo-charging my Harley Davidson Fat Bob

Ice and frost on the road, had a real hard time with traction. Had to keep that rear tire in check at every bend using clutch and throttle combo. These street tires on Harleys, good for great roads, very poor in wet and low traction surfaces. Bikes with knobby tires were doing just fine.
Some weren't so lucky climbing Lachung La.

Congratulations, thats a great achievement. Looking forward to the details.

On the photo, is it just me who feels the front fork heights are a bit different each side? I'm seeing the height of the fork seals not in the same line as the tilt of the motorcycle. Maybe its just a parallax vision error, but it does seem a bit off.

Oh they seem to be off because that chrome cover thing that is suppose to cover the fork seal area isn't seated all the way in on one side. Off by at least 10mm.
Good catch by the way.

Re: Turbo-charging my Harley Davidson Fat Bob

15000-16000 ft doesn't matter. Turbo just spins faster and makes it whole again and more.
Best riding experience till date.

"Miss-ILE the second" Got her entry ticket into the dark side club. Yokohama AAA traction, V Rated. Beautiful bold, goes like stink, stops like a heart beat.

Yup I know- tail light has gone for repairs, few LEDs weren't working.

Re: Turbo-charging my Harley Davidson Fat Bob

Updates: completed 5000km after turbo and 1600km on new Darkside rear tire.
First major breakdown that prevented normal vehicle operation. Lost the rear fender holding bolt. wanted to take her to office but then had to take the car today, weather is perfect for bike rides these days, soon it will be too hot to be on a motorcycle during the day.
Turbo-charging my Harley Davidson Fat Bob-img20230321094140.jpg

Bracket that goes behind the fender for the Bolt is now bouncing around and hitting the belt guard.

This tire is a delight, also much sweeter on pocket.

Turbo doing what turbo does, trouble free, leak free, takes it anywhere anytime without the drama that usually comes with engine mods. it has been over an year now, chrome plating is holding up pretty great, no complaints in that department too.

Lovely tyres, and meaningful modification.
DO you know a good person to repair tail light of Custom 1200 XL. My tail light is broken with a few LEDs not working. I might be able to get a 3D tail lens printed if I get these LEDs working.
New one costs 17K and I have installed a new one. Just want to get older one repaired and kept in stock.

Thanks!

Re: Turbo-charging my Harley Davidson Fat Bob

Made another trip to the Himalayas, Dehradun to Munsiyari via nainital.
Completed 50000km too.

Suffered complete rear brake failure, thankfully just 3-4km from final destination munsiyari. On inspection next day, found that rear caliper had lost one of it's bolts.
Fixed the next day on a nearby mechanic.
