"You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one" lyrics from John Lenon's Imagine sound so apt for your comment. Clearly, there are dreamers like me. Imagine what a great world it would be where we'd get an impeccably reliable twin for OTR 5L in India.

I just hope this happens and happens soon.

For a moment I thought you were referring to the NX. Had to read through the post’s thoroughly to figure it was about the Himalayan. 😅 that was a scare.

Is it correct that there is no Quick Shifter as an option for this?

Re: 2024 Honda NX500 unveiled

If you look at the price of the NX abroad

UK- £6799 (₹7,13,690)
France- €7499 (₹672671)
India- ₹7,06,100 (with insurance and road tax)
Thai Baht- 227900 (₹525893)

On road in Goa, they are retailing this at ₹7,06,100 including road tax and zero dep insurance.

What do you guys think about this comparison?

The interceptor /GT 650 twin is close enough under 5L. Build quality etc may not be at par with Honda, but is not that bad either at less than half the price of NX500.
We also have twins from the likes of Ninja 300 under 4L, Yamaha R3, some offerings from Benalli and so on.

But i do get the point of having a Honda level of reliability, smoothness and peace of mind. Hope they sell the NX 500 in good enough numbers to see a market and consider CKD option with some localization (like the CB350) to bring the cost down. I was very tempted to book one myself but price in Bangalore would cross 8L with engine guard as an accessory. Which i still think is a bit high. No big urgency to get another bike, so will wait for the upcoming KTM 399 adv which looks promising. There are bikes like Versys 300, and Himalayan rally version on card too. Interesting times ahead for ADV segement.

You mentioned 5.55 OTR Bangalore. It's EVEN lower than the ex-showroom. Is that a typo?

Definitely must have been a Typographical error. I must have mixed up the numbers in my head. Onroad price in Bangalore in 7.55L for a bare bone bike. No crash guard, radiator guard, knuckle guard, USB socket, aux lights, center stand, etc. I am not even considering stuff like ceramic coating/ PPF cover, luggage plate, wider foot pegs, mobile phone holder, taller screen, etc will majority of buyers may consider. Even if we consider some of these must-have essential accessories like crash guard, USB socket, etc and the price would shoot upwards of 8L.

It cost me a tad under 6.3L on-road with BH registration in Delhi. And I'm not even considering OE accessories. It'll be better to wait for local manufacturers to come up with something. But who knows how long they'll take to make accessories for a CBU bike, if at all.

Even for CB 500X there were no local manufacturers for accessories. So I doubt anyone would make. But, on Chinese sites there were plenty

re: Honda NX500 launched at 5.9 lakhs

Does anyone have information on delivery times? After the initial two bikes, Pashankar Honda is saying they haven’t received any further deliveries. It’s already March, and the Pune dealer seems to have no clue or isn’t being transparent about the status. Meanwhile, two of my friends who had booked the NX500 along with me have cancelled their bookings and are now considering buying the Versys 650 instead.

I’m getting a decent enough March offer on the Versys and the OTR price difference with the NX500 would be to the tune of 1.5 lakhs only. Versys is a bike I really like, but find it tad bigger and pricier for my needs, secondly my heart is still set on NX500 but this lack of transparency from Honda is not helping.

I wouldn't install anything other than SW Motech on this bike. Those guys really know how to make a good crash bar.

Same here man! In TN we still have not cleared state registration. Also, I have booked the white and my dealer here is saying May end / June beginning :( I am in no hurry but still will be nice to get some clarity!

Don't wait. Maybe approach local companies. Bandidos pitstop used to make them. They now just have rear brake cylinder cover. I think carbon racing, zana and few others also did. The bike was imported in such limited numbers so it made little sense & especially since Honda wouldn't sell more. No one has stock anymore. Just check YouTube videos.

I agree, but Honda brought so few of CB500Xs to our shores before discontinuing it. Looks like a different story this time around. Demand seems to be higher than supply. So, I'm a bit more hopeful.
