Meanwhile I did receive a call from a diff dealer asking if I wanted the black and its available for immediate delivery. I declined.

White seems to be the hardest colour to get. I made my booking on Jan 20th. I am still waiting for my bike to be delivered

My dealer informed me that by July / August, all the backlogs will be cleared. I do hope its true.

Thanks. I have the Himi and NX, rest are all with brothers since its a joint family. The NX is a keeper, will have a review out soon. I'm also not on social media, in it for pure riding pleasure

I was just examining my purchase, and this stickering and logo design has struck me as beautiful, contemporary, unique and eye catching. Especially against the white. Maybe, this is the reason people want this shade

But I just read you have the Himalayan 452 as well. If you don't mind me asking what will be your use case with both the bikes?

This could be a long post but since everyone is asking me about it I need to clear the air Both bikes are identical in 'use case scenarios', yet are very different in the way they ride, refinement levels etc.

What happened in my case is, when Honda dropped prices on the CB 500X, a few years back, I was caught by surprise. That very moment I called up the dealership and Ayush (who was out of town that day) had blocked the colour I had wanted - (which was red).

I cant recall why, but there was a delay from my side regarding payment, and the bike was allotted to someone else the following day. I still have that engine/chassis number written somewhere. I understand two of our fellow BHPians were also allotted reds that day, (maybe one of them got mine ) Demand was that red hot.

In two days, when I was finally clearing payment, the reds were sold out and a black was offered to me. I didn't want that. So, I have been waiting for this bike for the longest time.

Used CB 500X Hondas were available for Rs 7-7.5 lakhs, in 2023, I didn't see the value then. In October there was a rumour that bookings would start for the new 500X, I jumped at it and booked one paying 10K.

But, there was no sight of the bike till Jan 2024, and by that time the Himalayan 450 was raging and I'd taken delivery of that bike in December. A bike in hand is worth two in the dealership, you see.

Yeah, so that's the story of the overlap. Now, if you ask me whether I'll let go of the Himi?, right now there is no chance of that happening as the bike has endeared itself with its performance, is a current favourite and my 'beater bike'.

The NX 500 engine is a gem, very refined, and the clutch is a delight to use. The engine hardly heats up. Totally loving it. While the Himi can take any punishment, has the best ever display and the suspension decimates everything. Besides these, there are numerous other points, but that's for another day.

The beam quality of the 'toblerone' light set up on the highway (shot on day one, right after delivery) I feel it could have been better, but they look great.

Quickly protected my forks with the Kriega fork seal. This should keep fine debris out.

Uhhhh, it's weird to put an update to my own text this way but I definitely feel i should put it out there.
The intrusive vibes at 100-115 kph on my Himalayan 450 is gone after I clocked 1800km on it and changed the oil from semi synthetic liquid gun to full synthetic mobil 1 (same grade, obviously).
I am almost past 3000km now and the bike seems to be settling down even now. I can easily sit on it at 110kph (peak vibration zones according to most) for 2 hours at a stretch and not have buzzed hands during my tea break.

I can vouch for this improvement too (In my case semi-synth oil), but there is a slight, (very slight buzz) in my hands. It's not gone away completely. After I pause riding (Say after 2 hours) need a few minutes of rest and am not able to comfortably pick up anything. This is absent on the NX. Plus, the Fuel X is a boon and is managing the Himalayan 450 very well.

Actually I am amazed at how close RE has come to the global leader in terms of performance. Big fan!
Now, only reliability needs to be tested.
