Although I am a Day 1 biker, but still acknowledge the facts. A car will corner better than a bike, keeping other factors like P to W ratio constant. Simple reason: Four fat tires in each corner as opposed to a bike's narrow footprint.
Even though if a bike has slightly better power to weight ratio, it would struggle to put all the power down on the tarmac.

Here is an example:

Although it can be argued that the Westfield is a strictly track-bred car; still if one puts on telemetry on both car and the bike; it is revealed that a car will have more cornering speed while the bike will have better straight line speed and braking (sometimes). So it really depends on the track layout which can be favorable to the car or the bike.

But this video takes all these facts and makes pulp out of it. It is the clash of titans, the most technologically advanced cars and bikes known to mankind.

So the debate rages on...

A car brakes better then a bike but a bike can corner better due to the ability of the rider to lean.

Correction just read, a car corners better then a bike, a car brakes much better then a bike thanks to four wheels, a car has more traction then a bike but a bike is faster on the straights.

A car can offer quite a lot of luxuries.
A bike cannot.

I do love bikes a lot. But compare a supercar and superbike, I'd pick the supercar anyday!

EDIT:
A thought
Dinner or party with a special one. We'd rather wear a nice suit than be dressed as a power-ranger. And what about the special one, you don't expect her to wear a dress on a superbike.

Hell, with the tens of thousands saved, you can afford to rent a supercar for that one night to make an impression and allow her to wear that skimpy dress

Erm. Cars are more comfortable....else we'd be seeing movies where kids score on bikes, not on those comfy backseats, eh...besides...methinks it should be easier to steam up windows than visors....

Not that I'd know...

Ya, I did start watching it when i started the first one... but it did not stream fully, I mean the connection went dead slow! It stopped after the gallardo finished the lap. And after watching that i didn't think the ducati had a chance!
But boy.... am I surprised!
I think both the machines have their own charm. No comparison!

hahaha! I had a feeling this thread would bring shan2nu back from his slumber! Let me check up some of my older magazines and see if they have a 0-300 time anywhere. don't recall coming across one though. And I doubt it would be anywhere near a veyron's. Above a certain speed, the drag on a bike slows down the rate of acceleration dramatically.

Shan - No bike can be compared to the mighty Veyron. The Veyron is the ultimate supercar as of today.

Butttttttt a Turbo BUSA(not me) can really whip past 300 in quick time.

Well, this is pushing the envelope really... But technically the fastest production motorcycle on face of the earth is the MTT Y2K. The Guinness Book of World Records recognizes this fact, so no arguments about it.

I do not have the 0-300 timings, but it does 0-350 kph in about 14 seconds. Top whack is ~390 kph.

Also note that all the Japanese production motorcycles are restricted to less than 300 kph by a gentlemen's agreement, including the 2006 launched Kawasaki ZX-14 and most probably the recently launched 2008 model year Suzuki Hayabusa as well (although the top speed has not been confirmed yet).

The ZX-14 does 0-288 kph in 18.9 seconds.

So while usually it would hold true, its not always a cut and dry result.

Next please!
Yes, but almost half of KMS is one nice long straight!

Anyway, what's the record like?
