Voted for Prestige variant

On paper, the Signature might be the VFM variant and might make sense to go for it. However, when you look at the price, you would have to pay upwards of ten and half lakhs for the automatic transmission. For that much money and considering the features you miss, my suggestion would be to go with the Prestige variant. You would have to pay more, but you would get a fully loaded car. Although I agree that the Prestige variant is a bit pricey and Skoda should think about keeping it more competitive.

I was surprised to find the auto dimming IRVM feature only available in the top end variant. I don't think it's a costly feature and should have been available from the base variant.

Re: Skoda Kylaq | Would you buy the base, mid or top variants?

Prestige is a big No to me. I am not spending 16-18 lacs on a compromised crossover like the Kylaq.

For the want of climate control's convenience, I can stretch till Signature+, else Signature is the max I'd recommend. The rear view camera in Signature+ 'almost' makes up for the lack of rear wiper too.

If one wants to spend 16-18 lacs, better to get the 4.3m ones rather than sub-4m crossovers. The increment in space far outweights the loss of features (when selecting mid variant of a Grand Vitara/Kushaq vs top variant of Brezza/Kylaq).

Only Classic is VFM. Feature distribution across variants is not par for the price of other variants.

IMO, a hatch/SUV body should have a rear wiper/washer at the very least. It's an essential safety which is extremely overlooked. A solace would have been having serviceable cameras instead, but even that's out of the question for the Kylaq.
You can easily install a rear wash and wipe on the base trim by swapping out the relevant parts. If that's all that stops you, it's a relatively cheap job that could even be done at the official dealership.

Interesting. How much would such a swap cost? Im guessing the entire rear glass, the wiper washer assembly, the wiring and new wiper stalk has to be installed. Never seen anyone do such a swap, that too at a dealership before.

I didn't see the rear wiper as a feature in any of the trims, hence assumed that Skoda had skipped it altogether. My bad! Looked at the TeamBHP official review and the car there does have the rear wiper.

Correct. Not sure about costs but there are threads on TBHP about people doing it on various makes and models.

Re: Skoda Kylaq | Would you buy the base, mid or top variants?

Would have voted for Signature+. From the 'Prestige' features, I would have only missed Auto-dimming IRVM. Can it be added as an accessory or after market?

Powered seats without memory isn't that useful IMHO.
And it is better to not have ventilated seats rather than kids complaining it is unfair only adults in front get it
From the official review, the 16 inch wheels are expected to be better for ride comfort.

I voted for classic as it had everything and more for the price point. As we go up in price ladder then market opens up with more choices and their own variants.

Eg at very top of kylaq pricing, i might get xuv700 base model as it has mechanically and engine wise more important things. One can always retrofit inside many things but there is no replacement for 2L engine.
