@shuvc - thanks! 1100D and me are in touch thru e-mail and fone (phone). even we are planning for a pre-kolkata-meet this weekend to test the "track condition" @ rajarhat. will give a feedback then.

guys if you are interested then you are most welcome to crash in! and we can all "test the track condition there".

venue: same place where we will be meeting on 4th / 5th november.

Right, let's narrow down on ideas.

For driving pleasure, I'd prefer NH6 or NH2. Particularly, NH2 after Dankuni toll plaza is blissful (or boring - depending on your point of view). Kona E'way till Jhaluberia is pretty bad at the moment.

But for all these we'd need to have plenty of time at hand and have to start early (this in turn might lower turnouts).

Personally, I'd prefer to keep driving time to minimum for the first meet. We're meeting to 'meet' each other and not drive each other out/in.
So should be enough to be around R'hat areas for now (like a 'good boy'). @planet_rocker, let us know your 'track report'

I am not negative to driving around at all and don't intend to sound boring - just trying to compromise a bit on that front for the sake of 'effective-ness' of meeting. Drivers/owners meet doesn't necessarily have to be 'all drive - no talk'.

Regarding food, Tangra should be fine (at least two places with enough parking space - Big Boss and another one - forgot the name). Haka at City Center is quite good as well (price is almost at par with Tangra ones). This would have lot of parking space and would be nearer to Rajarhat BA. But then no point making the option list bigger (I am violating what I said earlier).

@razor4077, where do you stay? I couldn't find your location from older posts - must have missed it.

indrajitrc, razor, Shuvc – lets game for Tangra. Yes it’s better to narrow down on the ideas and stick to one.

For the first time let’s just stick to getting to know each other better. Rajarhat has enough space for a good drive and we can game for City Centre / Tangra straight from there itself. And after lunch if we have the time and energy (like Shuvc said) we can decide what to do.

1100D is stuck with his work for the time being and he will be posting in a day or two once he is thru with his work.

Note from mod: Please do not use FONT tags as they do not work and make text difficult to read

Okay pals (seniors please excuse me if I offend you with that designation), its been a long time coming but its better late than never.

I have read theu the entire thread.

There are a few hurdles as we see.

1> we do not know each other well, although there is a first time for everything, I know that isn't going to be much of a show dampener. Ask planet rocker about our first and only meet! But he is great friends with me now.

2> To drink or eat or drive, or even the time involved. Me for instance only drink unleaded petrol (sometimes xtrapremuim) with Ifftex G, Apart from Water and soft drinks! But I gues we will be out of that hurdle to.

3> Bengal Ambuja housing estate, which I sugested to planetrocker on our meet, mind you , is a public place, so many cars over there could create some issues. One or Two cars for half an hour or so is fine. So we would definitely not want to do anything to enfuriate the locals and spoil my playground!!

3> The access to NH6/NH2, I checked out today is in shambles, but should be fine if you keep your adrenaline low. But a long long drive (even 40 kms) on first occasion wont do much ice breaking.

So
The best way IMHO is to have just a meet, in tune with the KISS philosophy (Keep it Short and Simple) for the first time. I am game for any restaurant/pub u guys decide.

if u want to pass any message, please contact @planetrocker or @shuvc, they will pass on the message to me.

@planetrocker, I am game for our pre-meet, where u can smoke our 1100d car happily now!!

Yes guys, decide a good place through meets. Tangra food joints were good those days and don't know about now..

Good food..good whiskey...and all you guys...in December. I'll be there and let you guys know well in advance.

Rudra sir, when you do come in to Kolkata give me a message, I will show you an Amby, a modified one, that will make you laugh your heart out.

I am not sure how soon you frequent Kolkata, but ironically in Kolkata, which should be an Amby haven, most old Amby's cant even run straight. It really pains me a lot to see those cars. Comparing this to B'bay where many privately owned Fiats are nice.

Pardon me for going a bit OT on this thread though.

@1100d I guess you are talking about the black amby which can be frequently seen near Bhawanipore. the amby sports sporty bumpers (front and rear), side skirts and an awsome exhaust. are you refering to this car?

lemme know and i will catch you tomorrow. we'l see as to whether my car smokes your car or your car does the same! :)

till then take care and drive safe!

@Rudra Sen - you are most welcome to the land of the bongs and fiats (i mean ours).

Rajarhat stretch seems to be in good condition. Pretty good in terms of tarmac condition. Occasional ups and downs, small (manageable) pot-holes are there but can be avoided because of width of the track. Over all its worth trying. You guys can easily do 110+ KPH.

thats 1100D's car in front of me...

But watch for the big pot holes (suppa speed breakers) near Nicco Park. :Shockked:

I guess since we are meeting for the first time we should gather somewhere and “talk” … rather than going for a long drive. The main thing is we should get to know each other better.

@ I think we will plan for a gala meet in December when Rudra Sen will be here in Kolkata and that is when we can let our CARS’ TALK. :Cheering:

What say guys?

@1100D – I guess the pre-meet went good.

sorry i haven't added to this thread in a while... internet was down at home this weekend... makes life pretty tough!!
anyway, going thru the posts, i see that we're all ok with tangra as the lunch destination. like some of u mentioned, lets get to know each other better the first time and put the long drives on the "to-do" list for the next meet. hopefully the roads would have improved by then too!
@planet_rocker: since u say rajarhat is ok to drive on, lets put that on the agenda. how about fixing up a final gathering place & time, and route for the 5th?
@indrajitr: i stay in garia, near the big bazaar. not exactly neighbours, but close enough!

@planet , @1100D,
Saw 'WBJ' parked opposite my car at city centre on sunday afternoon. Spotted @planets car too ! Was getting late for lunch at home hence didn't hang around ..

Shall we meet at around 11:30 AM at Rajarhat on 5th ? Then go to Tangra from there ?

@shuvc - yep we were at city centre after we tested the track condition @ rajarhat. but you should have buzzed us atleast once. i bet you could have stayed back for coupla minutes.

Phone conked out .. had gone to buy a new one + wifey with me + baby waiting at home for lunch .. lotsa complications :)

See you guys on Sunday.

ok guys. i guess we are all game for tangra like razor said.

ok this could be another place to hang out: "sanjha chula" on EM ByPass itself - road side dhaba. good food and reasonable price. and its very near to science city. what say? if you guys are interested then its kewl. otherwise we can game for tangra.

ok...here goes:

venue: in front of WIPRO (near Rajarhat intersection)(just after crossing Nicco Park)

lunch @: Tangra (any restaurant) / Sanjha Chula (off EM Bypass)

Time: 11:30am onwards (i guess it ok...what say?)

Must Bring: your cars (lol)

we should fix up the place where we are gonna eat out. time is not a problem IMO. place to gather shouldnt be a problem as well.
