This is mostly an East Coast thing. Most of the US states like California require front number plates. There are a lot of weird rules on the East Coast like annual inspections, having to pay property tax on your vehicle, getting tax stickers from your city and county and pasting them on your windscreen etc. Fortunately, nothing like that is required in California.

Great cars,
Nice pics. What about food, no pics?

Even when its technically illegal, you only get a FixIt ticket. Its like driving with a broken light or a blinker. You get to go to the court and explain your action.

I have been driving around my current car without a front plate for more than 4 years. I have the plate in the trunk. I intend to install it after I get a fixit ticket.

BTW, I have been stopped by the cops for speeding, and they never mentioned anything about the front license plate. This is in California, where front license plates are needed by law.

Thank you. We stopped at two restaurants and had great food. Both stops were really late (breakfast at 11:30 & lunch at 2:30), so everyone were busy enjoying the food!

Great cars, great food and to top everything, great bunch of people!
Thank you vj123 aka Vibin for planning this out.

Was lovely meeting everyone, some familiar faces and some new members. But like you said, on top of the amazing cars, food and the fun drive, it was meeting a bunch of really nice folks.

Always something to learn from the conversations.

The start point was just about 3 hour drive from Pittsburgh, making it a nice and relaxed drive.

Was joined by Jeeva in his Genesis GV80, Sunay in his X3 M40 and Nitin ( giving me company )

We pretty much reached the starting point at around 11ish. A quick round of "Hi's" and introductions with the new faces and a round of pics, we set off towards Cleveland.

vj123 diligently taking all pics.

We drove approximately 50 odd miles from Sandusky to Cleveland downtown.

We stopped at some way point to get a few pics

A little drive by

The route this time, was more of a relaxed drive alongside the lake and some exquisite houses along the coast line. Most of them were way better than the ones you'd see on TV.

Weather was a little chilly when we started but quickly warmed up.

Got a shot of Rohit's M5

And Jeeva's Genesis GV80

A good mediterranean lunch at Aladdin's ( Lakewood, OH) before saying our good byes.

Time well spent. Looking forward to the next one.

The same question was asked by a cousin back home when I had shared pics of another event.

On a lighter note, I just pulled a fast one on my cousin. I told her that that good drivers are rewarded by being allowed to take off their license plates on the front, and bad drivers have to keep them. And my car was parked next to another cousin's from NY who had the license plates on both sides. I just cooked it all up

Hi Fusionbang aka Sunay,
You are very welcome. Glad I was able to help.

More than this, I loved the concept of custom "number" plates where you can choose characters/numbers for a nominal fee paid to DMV! And here the RTO is such a PITA!

A meet that never misses a beat. Great show lads. Apologize for the one-liner, but I had to show the love.

Cheers!

Yeah, we can be really creative based on the availability.

I have had A4 plate on a Audi A4, GTII & GTTI on my VW GTIs and DDRT on a Dodge Durango RT.

Fellow BHPian here ... I will be moving back to Chicago from Texas after completing my masters. Would love to join on future meets though I may find it hard to keep up since I own a humble 2015 Elantra Is there a Whatsapp group or any other form of social media where these meets are planned or is TBHP the only spot?

Re: USA - The Rust Belt States Meetup

I’d love to join in from Boston if there’s a meetup sometime in the summer/fall!

Is there a thread for planning something like that or just this one ?

Re: USA - The Rust Belt States Meetup

Looks like you all had an awesome meet! Hopefully something like this, at a smaller scale, will happen on the east coast soon.
