It’s been a while and this thread has been quite silent and sulking. Well, there has been plenty of Team-BHP meets but, all of them are not reported due to lack of time.
The frequency of our meets is as often as
twice in a month to once in a month. depending on the season/weather.
But, we definitely catch up for some activity once in a month for sure albeit a smaller, enthusiastic BHPian group.
Living in PWN has changed the concept of Team-BHP meets for me.
Here we do not need to drive anywhere as the nature and scenery starts at our “doorstep” and unlike other states in US, PNW offers spectacular views in just 150 miles range from wherever you live in the Greater Seattle region.
Team BHP meets have matured over the standard “Drive Meets” to these :
1. Hikes (In the past one year, I may have done at least 10 hikes with BHPian’s)
2. Bicycling- A few meets happened just to ride a bike (Bicycle is known as bike here)
3. Driving to the hike is also akin to a Team-BHP drive as the routes in Seattle are always windy and cutting through forests and mountains so the driving pleasure is “thrown in” to a regular drive each time.
4. Home Parties- Oh, we get together at least once in a month and party till wee hours of the night.
Also, we do drives with families whenever we get the opportunities. These pictures are from one such
“Team BHP Family Drive Meet”
Last Saturday, an impromptu plan was made at 10:00am and we all decided to start at 1:00pm to Lake Diablo in the “North Cascades National Park” which is roughly 90 miles away from home.
Since wifey was not joining and mom took her place, we decided to jump into one of the lovely 3- cars that ventured out for this drive meet :
1. Volvo XC 90 (Ashu)
2. BMW 5-Series (Vineet)
3. Toyota Highlander (Crackhead)
#1 and #2 are neighbors and #3 was BHPian Crackhead.
We left home finally at 1:30 pm and reached a lovely little American joint in the mountains for a late lunch around 3:00pm.
Immensely enjoyed the lunch and then drove ahead through enjoying views of scenic roads with aqua blue waters and mountains that still had snow (Imagine, it’s late summer here and summer from last winter hasn’t melted yet).
We reached our magical destination around 4:30pm and spent over an hour sinking into the views which were no less than a “Slice of Heaven’ and then drove down to a spot where we sat by the water with kids having fun in the water with the senior citizens bonding and connecting.
After an hour or so, we drove to a dam and spent some additional lovely time before heading back to home around 7:30pm
Got back home at 9:30pm and Ashu was kind to offer an "after drive party" at his lovely home. We picked some food enroute and headed straight to his home where all of us (whole gang including the senior citizens) partied until midnight.
Well, I never knew when I used to organize Team BHP meets in 2007 (Whew, it’s already 16 years now) that Team BHP drives would mature to this stage.
I’m lovin’ it !!!
