For Tirupathi, the route worth taking is via Kalahasti. Go down till Tada on the NH5, then turn left at the junction.

You could also try the NH205 route: Sholavaram - Uttukottai - Puttur - Renigunta - Tirupati

Hey guys

Horseley Hills and back from Chennai in one day will be too tiring. We need more time to really enjoy the drive as well as the place there. No use in spending 80-90% of the time in just driving. We'd be really tired. Plus it would for sure be tough for me to get out for more than a day, for obvious reasons - all married guys here would understand what I'm referring to

The G-Quad is a nice highway to drive on. Why not plan a trip to that Golden Temple in Vellore or something ? That's about halfway between Chennai and Bangalore, probably 150 kms. Once we cross that Kathipara, Porur junction, etc it would be superb all the way.

So Horseley Hills - 250 km approx, Yelagiri - 220 kms approx (as per my bike ride there in June 2008)

Why don't we get some bikes this time !! Considering the market & economic conditions at the moment, it would also be cheaper

Any other ideas are welcome too.

AFAIK, Yelagiri is about 160 km from here. And it sounds like a good place to go too. Lets shift this discussion out of the molaga bajji to our regular meet thread over here.
