| Re: General Meet ups in Coimbatore Coimbatore Team BHP Drive The lush hillock of Kovai kutralam played host to the inaugural drive of the Coimbatore T bhp chapter. The rough plan formulated was as follows. Hi- at 6:30 Perur temple Drive to Kovai Kutralam with a pit stop for tender coconut/tea. Reach destination at 8:00 after a 25 km drive. U turn after photo session. Breakfast at Madhampatti at 10 am. Bye- post breakfast. D Day - 28/08/16 The trio of graaja, asta_la_vista and myself started together past 6 am in a convoy as we live close, the lush green vistas and the rolling fields were a treat to the eyes, the AC switched off and the windows rolled down to take in the fresh air. The trio reached the rendezvous point at Perur temple and vdm295 was already there. Parked the cars along the road side and chatted for sometime waiting for the rest of the troop to join in. Soon the rest of the team rolled in - quicksilver, nskumar with his friend and krishsreedharan in his mighty scorpio. The trip was a go with fuelinjector calling in to say that he would catch up at the pitstop. The convoy started in single file and though it was a Sunday morning, traffic was conspicuous by its presence and we slowly motored on in single file, finally halting at pit stop one for a quick chai gupshup session. The quick pit stop gradually got extended to a half hour session with the talk ranging from the service intervals of the German marquees to the supercars and souped up cars in Coimbatore, fuelinjector joined in the festivities by this point and the trip continued.  After rolling along for a while we reached the U turn point – the check post at the entrance to Siruvani. As vehicles were not being permitted beyond the checkpost before 10 am, the cars were lined up and the photo session began on the bridge along a small stream, kids from the village fishing with makeshift fishing devices made of cloth and a metal plate.     After yet another chatter session, we reversed out and headed back, the shining sun reminding us that time flies when we are having fun. A spot was marked for another photo shoot, the cars lined up with the background of the majestic hills, the camera set on timer and the moment preserved for eternity.   Left to right FuelInjector batterylow quicksilver Asta_la_vista graaja nskumar Dr.Kumar’s friend Vdm295 krishsreedharan Hunger reared its head by this time and the convoy headed to madhampatti for a well deserved breakfast of dosa and idlis washed off with filter kapi. Hunger satiated, it was time to head home. Mission accomplished, the Coimbatore chapter pulled off a pleasant breakfast drive! Here's hoping that this is just the beginning and many more such events follow. Thanks to all the folks who turned up, the enthusiasm showed by you all is what made this happen and looking forwards to more participation from the rest of the folks in the city. Signing off. |
