We did have a previous discussion regarding the issue
here.
hi
thanks for this info. would usage of System D and/ or STP Diesel Additive cause this kind of gumming issue and/ or injector clogging as described below? I ve been using the Diesel Additives off and on as described earlier on the thread but I ve so far noticed only positives. Mine is a 2008 2.6 Crde Scorp.
Shall await your inputs.
Thanks!

- Years ago the Brand Manager - Scorp of M&M mentioned to me very clearly not to use premium diesels on my CRDe Scorp primarily for the reason of gumming. Also mentioned that since all the standard tests are carried out on the machine at the factory using 'normal' or non premium diesel the behaviour, including FE, on using premium additive laced diesel was not really known.
- Recommended that I use premium diesel once in a quarter or so.
-- Came my TFort and a strict warning from the ASC - not to use premium diesel. Not very convinced I finally spoke to the Head of IQC of TKML in B'lore who asked me not to take the TFort anywhere near premium diesels.
- Reason being that the Pilot Injector nozzle of the CRDe system gets clogged.
- This, I presume, is because the addtives have higher molecular size and could jam the superfine nozzle apertures.
My TFort is therefore growing up on a diet of 'sada' diesel !
Hi, Had another Scorp friend who reported the same issue. Was told that it was a sensor related issue. Ask your ASC to check and 'WD 40' the sensor before they open up the entrails. |

Hi Shankar, As I understand it - yes. Because these are possibly the same 'type' of additives that the oil cos add to their 'sada' fuels and call it premium and well...charge us a premium !
Like I mentioned earlier - I was using the premium diesel of BPCL (Hi Speed) with great results. Pity about the warning specifically for CRDes.
thanks then. So for my Scorp from now on, it is bye bye to STP and System D.
any ideas for a 5 year old Tata Indica V2 DLG Turbo? Thats not a Crdi tech engine so will it be ok to use Fuel additives in that vehicle?

In my FIAT Petra Diesel (which is an IDI engine) I was strongly adviced not to fill in advanced diesel or additives. I did try it for a bit, but gave up and sold the car instead :D
Thank you all for your valuable inputs. Sorry If I digressed on the subject but appreciate the thoughts. SAY NO TO - Fuel Additives & Premium Diesels for Crde + later version M&M engines.:)

Hi Shankar, Sorry missed this Q from you.
Frankly if one were to logically think about it - it should be OK to use additives laced diesel on DI engines. Why I state this is because as I understand:
1. The nozzle holes of the CRDes would be much finer than DIs so the cause for the gumming jamming in CRDes may not be present in the DIs, with DI nozzle holes perhaps being slightly larger.
2. Unlike the CRDe I think the pilot injectors may not be present in the earlier DIs - though the later DIs have them to reduce noise, improve combustion.
Can some techie whizkid validate this please ?
Let me add my 25 naya paisa to it.
I have never used premium diesel, any additives, de carbonising or System-D/E/F/Z on Hariya for the past 45k kms and he still runs like a dream.
I see no difference in the pickup, FE, vibrations or other noticeable wear and tear points in the engine.
In fact, my Co has a 1,20,000km run CRDe Scorp and that too sounds just like new and goes like one too, without any of these measures. I do not think they are required.
Hi Guys, need some help here. Today while coming back from office I saw the water in fuel filter warning light going on for a few seconds. But after that it never came up again. The manual indicates that the water in the fuel filter needs to be drained and the procedure is mentioned in the self maintanance section. But I couldn't find any reference to do that. Should I take the vehicle to service center to get it done? I filled up fuel today morning only and I'm worried that due to the recent rains there might be water in the fuel. But the light was not constantly on and it happened for a few seconds (10-15) only. Should I be worried?
^^ Is the light still on? If yes, just let me know, I will give step by step procedure.
Spike

You just need to drain the sedimenter and fit it back. Like Spike said, see if the light comes on again and then tell him. It is an easy procedure.
Do you guys face problem while balancing the wheel on a scorp? I mean, does it end up taking more / around 200gm of weight?? Is that the case for most of the SUVs?
The wheel balancer unit was showing multiple points where weights had to be
stuck, and in the end the total weight was over 200gms. The technician was like 'We see this in most of the scorpios and boleros'. Is that so? (The wheel balancing interval was 10K kms)
the Scorp, being a heavy vehicle does knock its rims about quite a bit - which in turn knocks the balance completely off kilter.
It also depends on the terrain it is being used on and the driving style. At the current moment you can see the quality of roads we are driving on - I face similar issues with my wheel balancing - weights upto 120gms on one side and another 20-30 gms on the other side to ensure a properly balanced wheel. I do it at Madhus which is arguably the best wheel alignment place in Bangalore. Would suggest you also go there and have your vehicle checked out.
cheers
