It is a wax with no cleaning agents. Unless you prep the paint with a polish your results will fall short of expectation.

I got some megs stuff (clay, wax, etc) from my recent US visit, but could not find a good polish to pick of the shelf. What would you recommend that is easy to procure in India? (or should I wait for a friend arriving in a month and get something from US?)

I think it should be available at Reliance Stores.
I couldn't find it here in Chd, so ordered it online from a store named gamutauto.com (based out of Delhi I think)
Not sure if the site is totally functional yet but yes, I gave the Support team a call and they delivered the product in 2 days.

Some brands like Sonax Collinite have limited availability in India for some items. You can check with Turtle wax they have a polishing compound.

I have megs cleaner wax (clean+polish+protect) for that job.

After I get some good polish, I guess then I shuold attempt the full cycle.

I'd suggest you check out your car's paint for tar deposits/spots!!
you can take them off by clay if they haven't hardened yet!

My dad's car had a lot of tar spots!(now a days these guys spray tar instead of laying it leading to oversprays on vehicles due to wind etc.)

I had to use a rotary to get rid of them!!

This is something that i have just not been able to figure out - i see hairline scratches, lines on the surface which are impossible to see with a normal vision but against the light that falls on the surface putting your eye at the level of the surface, one can see. Now i know that a few were there when i got my new car and saw them the very first day itself, but i have no idea how to get them off. I think the only way is to have a proper polish- which will need a Rotary buffer. In my earlier car, there were many of these and even after the 3M treatment, they got hidden, but not completely gone.
Has anyone faced this and done away with them?Swirls are easy to see and can be removed, not sure why these come and how can we get rid of them.
I have been using california duster and micro vv carefully, can we get them when wax application?
Another question- how do you ensure a re-usable wax applicator? I have a foam applicator, and a micro applicator, but its a c tough task to get the wax out of them and re-use. I hope that am not introducing these lines due to the applicator not being proper enough!
This is THE only thing that still bugs me - still unable to figure out about these lines that remain!

Actually due to the flyover and metro frenzy, most of the roads are dug up and give our cars a mudbath during monsoons.
