I don't have any sanding marks left out for sure coz i checked the entire car thoroughly. Guess i'll have to go for the clay treatment. Again here, i'm gonna have to go with the 3M guys in Pune as there is no outlet that i can buy a claybar from.
On a sidenote, i'm moving to B'lore soon and looks like Nirmal and MKH are gonna have their hands full with my car detailing if they'll be generous to help out a fellow BHPian.
My friends think i have OCD due to the care i take of my car.stupid: |
If its just claying that you want, i would not suggest go for a surface treatment which also includes compounding hence paint cut. Clay is locally available with Jopasu in Pune, though a full bar will be too much as it lasts very long for a normal user. Try and see if you can get someone to give you a 50 gm bar if they have a set?
@GTO- Thanks for the words of guidance, as you said its easy when you get a hang of it, just being cautious not to cross the line as we are big TBHP fans!!

Thanks for the support, Mkh. It's wonderful to have experts such as yourself guide the rest of us in such specialised topics.
While on the topic of car detailing, I just returned from the Auto Show at Washington DC where I saw a demo of some kind of wax named Perma-Seal. The demo looked pretty convincing, and the bonnet was shining after buffing. I believe it erases swirl marks and also scratches too, but I hesitated from buying it without reviews.
They were charging 27 USD for 2 bottles, including 2 buffing cloths. Is any bhipian aware of this product?

Though i do not know about this product, but all waxes/sealants VISUALLY hide swirls. Check the product description carefully and it will say that- visually eliminates swirls etc. No wax/sealant can remove them, only compounding can, that too depending on the extent they exist. Go for tried and tested waxes/sealants. Since you are in the US, there is no dearth of options and choices anyways. Meguiars has got out their latest wax/sealant- check out the website, they are the oldest in the trade!

Thanks. Will certainly check that product. Meantime i did read some good reviews of the product I'd mentioned about.
My car detailing was carried out during last Saturday.
Mohsin and Niraml - sorry for delay in posting. Here are the pics.
I lost the pics of before treatment, hence only the after pics.
My Formula 1 car wax was not able to last evem 2-3 days, no thanks to Tirunelveli heat. I was looking at other options.
New brand named Kangaroo was there. Made in Korea. 2 distinct models, cosmic and long coat 30. Has anyonle else used these?
Guys between the Sonax Gloss Shampoo and Abel, which one do you guys recommend?
I plan to eventually get ONR from the US but I need something for the next few months. I also plan to get Collinite 845. Anything else you guys think I should get? Looking for items I can buy locally for now.
Thanks!
A different kind of query. I own a Vocal White Linea. Suffered some scratches on the left rear wheel arch. Don't want to take it to service center as I think it is a DIY thing.
I checked com-paint site for DIY can, they don't have it for vocal white but bossa nova white.
Any paint experts who can advise on if BNW can be used along with a clear coat or any other combination for vocal white. Any suggestions are are welcome.

Sonax gloss shampoo (yellow/orange) is good one , using it from past 3 years without any problems.

if the paint has peealed off , then only repaint is a solution , if only small/minor scratches then try rubbing /polishing .
Hello everyone,
Happy news for me! My dad is presently in Bangalore for a training and I am making him go to the 3M exclusive showroom there to purchase Car care products. As I have mentioned earlier, the stuff that I would like to do to the car are regular washing, waxing and then drying and more. So I would like to know what all I should buy from there. The stuff that i thought were:
1) A Degreaser - to remove hard tree sap, bird dropping stains.
2) A microfiber waffle weave towel - for drying, or is the chamois that i use sufficient?
3) A Grit guard
4) Washing mitt - to wash the vehicle
5) Carnauba Wax - Does 3M have this? Or is something else better?
6) Microfiber towel to remove wax - what type?
7) A brush to wash tires and wheel wells - which one?
8) An all purpose microfiber towel for glass cleaning.
9) An all purpose microfiber towel for Interior care.
10) Interior trim cleaner.
I use Formula 1 shampoo(with carnauba wax) to wash my cars and as a glass cleaner, I use colin glass cleaner. Is the list too much or sufficient or less than adequate? lol
1) A Degreaser - get w40 instead
2) A microfiber waffle weave towel - chamois is sufficient
3) A Grit guard
4) Washing mitt - to wash the vehicle (get the glove one that is available in local shops or malls)
5) Carnauba Wax - Does 3M have this? Or is something else better? Original turtle or waxpol are gr8 products.
6) Microfiber towel to remove wax - check ebay as well. get 3 pcs.
7) A brush to wash tires and wheel wells - which one? a soft carpet cleaner brush would also do.
8) An all purpose microfiber towel for glass cleaning. -- chk pt 6 above
9) An all purpose microfiber towel for Interior care. -- chk pt 6 above
10) Interior trim cleaner. -- -- chk pt 6 above. Use waxpol vinyl and leather cleaner.
Turtle products can be brought online as well and they are good to use. Check the link below:
