Just found some 3M clay bars at a jaw-dropping price of 1700INR for 5 pieces on
aliexpress. Iam not sure how good are these clay bars for detailing but I found good reviews on some forums. Your opinion on the same will be highly appreciated.

They are fakes. But few guys have had good luck using them. Please do not take my word for them since I haven't used them myself.

I have recently bought a Terrano and am a rookie when it comes to car cleaning and polishing. I am really amazed at the quality of this thread and the details many of you have shared about the whole car cleaning process. After reading this thread, I have got a good idea as to how much time and effort would I need to spend to keep my car shining just like the way it is now.
There seems to be a lot of options out there and I am thoroughly confused. I would really appreciate if you can help me come up with the list of things that I would need to get started. This is what I have manged so far:
1. Car wash Shampoo - Formula 1 wash and wax. Alternatives?
2. Car wash Sponge/mitt
3. Car drying cloth - i already have a microfiber (blue cloth) from the Jopasu kit that I had ordered even before my car had arrived. stupid:
4. Liquid Car wax - I have read about Meguiars ultimate liquid wax but havent found it online. Alternatives?
5. Applicator and wax removing cloth - suggestions?

Congrats first! My experience with these (in the sequence) products has been good
Sonax car shampoo; always use 2 buckets method whenever you do shampoo wash.
Cobra wash mitt and MF cloth (for wax buffing)
Meguiars water magnate; get a couple of them to start with as you will need that for Terrano
Collinite 845 with meguiars applicator sponge a
In addition to these, I use mother's clay/Nanoskin fine grade sponge (quarterly)
ONR wash n shine (between shampoo washes); just spray diluted mix and wipe. Never do this way if the
vehicle has lot road dust/particles/mud. Do a regular shampoo wash.
Meguiars quick detailer and Glass cleaner.
I started as a novice and found that if you keep it simple and regular, you can keep the vehicle in very good condition.
Yes stay with good brands, do not use shampoo/water cleaning too frequently and ensure a good supply of MF cloth/mitt.

Where did you procure mothers clay from? And how much did it cost for you? I have been searching for a couple of days but couldn't get them in my home town. Also tried some online sellers but they ran out of stock it seems!

BB Impex is currently out of stock for clay. Stock expected by end of this month.
I am hoping they have something in the 400-500 range (80 grams).

I too fancy something in that price range. 3990/- for a claykit is absurd and makes little sense when you already have a clay lube.
You've placed an order for Bilt Hamber rt? Have you received it?
1450/- for a 200gm bar isnt a bad bargain, if only they did small lumps.

No. I have not. I should wait till the end of month for stocks to arrive at BB Impex.

AFAIK - nothing completely eliminates the spots, but forums report that ONR acts as water softener.
The best way is to use sheeting water for the last rinse, and then blow dry using a hot air blower.
Or you can use a inline water softening filter kit (something like this

Distilled water bought from petrol pumps/battery stores should provide spot free results - but I doubt whether it would be cost effective.
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I am looking for a car shampoo of sort that helps reduce the water stains. This way I can have my watchman that washes my car daily to put it in his bucket of water before he washes my cars.
What I do is to spray the area with water and wipe it with a dry water magnet cloth, the stains are visible only when the water beads are big, by wiping, the beads become very thin and even if there is any stain due to that it will not be visible.

There are a couple of in line water softeners available in market, price ranging from 1500 Rs to say 5, 6K. These are typically attached to input sources of geysers, washing machines etc. I bought one called Ecocrystal from Reliance Digital. Cost me
about Rs 1800. You can consider putting that ahead in pipeline where water is drawn for car cleaning, utensil washing etc.
