Scratch removal from my Ford Fiesta:

Recently my car acquired a few scratches which were looking quite bad given rest of car surface was fine.

Product used : Meguiars Ultimate Compound
Applicator pad : Meguiars
Microfiber : Eurow 16" X 16"

Application method : Process should be done on a cool surface under shade. Clean the surface by washing it off or use a QD(Quick Detailer) to clean. Use a pea size drop on applicator pad. Start applying it in circular motion. Repeat the same till you are satisfied with result. An applicator pad has two sides and each side can only be used for 3 application. After which it is advised to wash the pad, since rubbing compound gets filled in it and you don't get the required cutting. Wash & squeeze water out and use again. Buff of surface with microfiber.

Try Keystone Enterprise, Ultimate Detailerx or BringingBest Impex. It would be difficult to find any other seller selling Megs Ultimate Compound.

I have used both Swirlx and Ultimate Compound(UC). Once you start using UC, you wouldn't like Swirlx unless you get a dual action polisher. Get Ultimate Compound, much less effort & better result compared to Swirlx.

Even I used to think, working with least aggressive and working up to more aggressive rubbing compound. I got Swirlx and then Ultimate Compound and found its much easier to work with Megs UC compared to Swirlx when done by hands. UC will get the required cut much before and with less efforts.

Which is why I recommended he go straight to UC, i've read of people using M 105 when working by hand if Megs UC doesn't give desired results. I think one can't do much damage to the surface by hand unlike with a rotary or DA.

I cleaned up my front bumper after a long time! Damages were due to me going into a tyre barrier at 60-70KMPH on a track. Not all scratches gone, but none are visible now!

Process was wet sand with 3000 grit, Megs Cut n Finish on a 4inch Megs Spot pad.

Did some detailing on my Black VW Vento this morning.

Washed with ONR
Clayed
Meguiars Ultimate polish, followed by Collinite 845

Did some interior and front grill detailing this noon:





















Used Waxpol vinyl and leather polish. Had used Meguiar's natural shine before which used to give the dashboard a natural look. Waxpol gives a glossy finish. I'm happy with the Waxpol results. Need to wait and see how durable it is.

The front grill surrounding the logo has developed some small white patches due to fading. Waxpol polish has covered the patches a bit. Any suggestions to eliminate those patches?

Have recently moved to an area where the water is hard- salt content is about 800ppm. Washing my car in this water has become a nightmare. The water leaves stains and wiping these off requires a great deal of rubbing. It almost feels like scrapping off the coating on the metallic paint of the car..
What are my options here. I could always go to where the water is soft...but alas wishes are not horses that I can ride....

That's some awesome results. As mentioned by you, BringingBest Impex doesnt have the stock and not able to source one from Ultimate too. Any other options?

Hope you are washing the car under proper shade? This itself will help avoid the residue mark, and cleaning one panel at a time and wiping it dry before moving to the next would also help. Ensure your car has good coat of wax on it which will make it easy to clean.

Worst case, use a can of drinking water to rinse off at the end of the wash.

I would suggest you to completely stop using water to wash car on daily basis. Rather do a weekly wash which would help by preventing water warks and also conservation of water.

You could use Optimum Wash & Wax as a quick detailer(QD) in ratio 1:25(ONR:Water). It will clean the surface and will also give a nice shine without inflicting any water marks. You could also use ONR for weekly car wash as well. It will serve as a multipurpose product. Once you start using it as a QD you wouldn't wish to wash car unless its very dirty.

You could also try Ultima Waterless Wash Plus Concentrate. Have read good reviews about it.

Thanks. I tried a few E-Shops and best I could locate is Poorboys SSR 3.0 Super Swirl Remover. Price looks okay as I paid Rs 1000 long back for Ultimate Compound. Read reviews and make an informed choice.

El lobo, was unfamiliar with the term QD. The ONR needs to be reconstituted in the proportion you mention and sprayed onto the panels-is this correct?

I am planning to order ONR online (green one as suggested by many Team-bhpians) and need some advice on it.

1. Is it safe to use ONR solution on windshield as well or do we need to buy Meguiars Glass cleaner or something similar.

2. Would a spray can with a 1:25 solution be sufficient to clean a car as big as Terrano on a daily basis. Since I live in an apartment complex, its not possible for me to fetch a bucket everyday down to the basement to clean the car.

1. Yes it is safe. There are better glass cleaners though.

2. How is dilution ratio of a solution and size of the car related? AFAIK recommended dilution ratio for ONR as QD is 1:16. That is true for cleaning either nano or a bus.

ONR is safe to use on any surface; metal, plastic and even glass. Just that green ONR contains wax, so do not let it dry on panel as it would leave wax residue for which you may again need to mist the surface and buff off.

Yes absolutely. Also do get a Jopasu duster and follow the below steps to get a nice shine in less time.

Step 1: Use Jopasu duster and move it over car surface to get rid of any fine dust.
Step 2: Spray ONR QD 1:25(ONR:Water) on one panel and wipe it off using a microfiber. Do not use any ordinary cloth be it cotton.
Step 3: Admire nice shine!

Yes according to Optimum Car Care, recommended ratio is 1:16 but 1:25 works almost same and you save a lot of concentrate as well. If you would use ONR 1:64 ratio which is recommended as a clay bar lubricant, you would even find it satisfactory compared to 1:25.

I too use to do a 1:16 ratio but later on learnt from other detailers that 1:25 works better and saves you concentrate.:thumbs up
