Can someone recommend a good masking tape that won't leave stains or damage the waxed surface? The abro types are pretty useless really.

The only good tape would be from 3M Precision series, but would be a very costly affair.

I am using the California duster to clean my car on a daily basis. Once a week, I also use carpro ech2o waterless wash with a 950 gsm microfiber towel. Lately, a lot of swirl marks have emerged across the body and they look really bad in the sun.

I was wondering, what could be the reason for the same and how can I get them off?

Is it the duster (more than 6 months old) or the microfiber?


P.S. The duster's tagline says - the dirtier it gets, the better it works!

Incorrect washing and dusting causes swirl marks on the paint. Always use the duster and microfiber cloth in straight lines and avoid dusting or washing the car in circular motion. A simple detailing session will take care of all the swirl marks on your ride.

As Akib said, a detailing session will remove the swirls. Well to explain a 'detailing session' is to use a glaze or if the swirls are deep, use a rubbing compound to remove the swirls. But be careful not to do it often or you will remove your clear coat, and only do it or get it done by someone who knows his job.
Swirls in a dusty environment like in India are unavoidable. I have started to live with them:)

You have answered your own question.
A simple DIY wax and sealant session will take care of the swirls for the time being. They will not disappear completely, but will be hidden by the wax and sealant temporarily.

Use the duster/microfiber in straight lines. In-fact use any cleaning cloth only in a straight line. Add dust/dirt to the circular motion and it is like sanding your car with a micro fine sanding paper. The dusters and cloths should also be used with minimal force when getting the dust off. The only time they need to be worked a little is when you are removing the wax/sealant haze.
If you want a refined finish, then it will always be a detailing job.

Rubbing compound is NOT recommended for swirl marks. It is way too abrasive. It is better to use a polish.

I own a three year old VW polo and try to maintain it immaculately. I love to keep it shining like new. Have used a range of waxes, sealents and polishes from turtle, maguire and the ilk.

Recently have been willing to try Collinite 845. I have heard about it a lot and wanted to know if its a feasible option since I wax my car by hand. Also would love to know a reliable seller to source it.

I wash my car and motorbike at home myself. I just have access to a garden hose and shampoo in a bucket.

To douse the vehicle with shampoo from a bucket - what kind of sponge do I use? Do I get something like this https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B01...8MB9HFEI&psc=1

Or something that is more traditionally a sponge?

I was looking for some contraption which will foam the vehicle up directly from a garden hose - any options? Since I do all washing and cleaning myself, i guess this will make my life a bit easier.
