I personally never use the handbrake (unless parked on an incline).
Thanks, I will also start using both from now on.

How to do a hand brake turn? How is it different from a normal turn with little brakes?

hey sethu... dunno how u can manage this on ur new swift... can damage the handbrake assembly and ur tires....

anyway here goes... speed up and just yank the parking brake and swerve... u will achieve a nice slide.... take care to see that you have no bystanders and start this activity with low speed so you dont wreck ur car too....

have fun

Also use it to help pull-off from traffic stops in inclines without rolling backwards

my hand automatically goes to the hand break wen i stop somewhere... in signal.. waiting for someone... parking ... etc...

u should be used to it wen u park the car mainly.. dunno who's goanna come and lean on the car rite? .. i've seen it in ma parking lot in office ...

this is how i go in parking ...
- break and stop
- Down gears to neutral..
- hand break..
- turn off ignition and then off...
- make sure the gear and hand break again and come out...

I use it while making U turns
heh heh just kidding
Its a habit to always use the hand brake while parking. I also put the car in gear and twist the wheel towards or away from curb when parking on a steep slope

Use them when going uphill .

I have mostly driven in the hills .
In trafic jams when you need to move the car by 1/2 a feet every time going uphill at aroung 45 degree of more.
Well i used to do it when I was learning to drive !!never wanted to break my tail lamps and head lamps of the guy behind me .
It can come in handy if you have never drivenin the hills . I have seen many people use the handbrake while starting the car uphill .

So ... let me get this!
You park with Handbrake and in a low gear... the incline is so much that a LOW gear slips/ handbrake fails!
You really think a curb would stop the car?
Or even worse!... in such intense pressure your steering lock will also give way (if gear/ handbrake can!)... and tyres will be straight again and your car will race.

In Indian streets if you are to park parallel to the curb .... and turn your tyres fully.... someone’s going to hit them hard. (seen this happen so many times)

Happens to lots of people. One option is to use the hand brake judiciously instead of using them always.
While parking on level surfaces, just ensure that you put the car in gear. Use handbrakes only on inclines / declines along with putting the car in the relevant gear (reverse gear on declines and 1st gear on inclines).
