They RIPED you???I didnt got it.

I think may be it is weakly connected to battery point. When you switch on the A/c it works fine for sometime but dies after sometime, it can be problem of loss of power too...I think you should get your 'Altenator' checked if Maruti guys didnt find any probs with your A/c...

They kept the car for 3 days and didnt do the work at all...

regarding the AC..
what all should i check...

What the HELL...So much for servicing an 800...Take your car there only where you had taken it earlier to that maruti srvice centre, why are you even thinking abt it...Why did you paid them so much if you didnt got anything out of it. Tell the guys that since you have already paid them so you wont pay them a cent more and that you want the car repaired.
They will definately repair it without charging you nething.
Comeon yaar when you pay someone you expect a fully working car in return atleast.

I wud have scared hell out those guys if i wud have been at your place...so go for it...

Very rightly said SSM. Zulfi... take the car to those buggers and show them all the bills and ask them to have the problem rectified. Tell them you are not picking it up until the problem is solved.

You can not charge a person any fancy amount by telling some stories. If you have charged the amount for a service it better be complete...

ok.. then ummmm take the car to Mandovi motors in lavelle road.. thats the showroom.. They will be able to guide you to the correct person to solve the problem.
Also if you know where wilson garden (Near new BMTC bus stop--This you have to know) is then you can take the car directly to the service center(Mandovi).. ask for the mechanic Babu. He does my car.. explain the problem to him... he will take care of it..
Or PM me.. we can meet up this thursday and i will take you there.

Does the A/c switch light... comes on when you switch it on?
If it does.... then... its most probably a bad (very bad).. thermostat (auto cuttoff).

If not then its another electrical problem.. with the switch or something.

Infact I have just (today) .. given my wagonR for service.. it has a thermostat problem.. (not as serious as your 800)...
I told them to check and call me up.. but don't touch anything.
When I told the guy in the morning... he was like "we'll check the gas"... I said "do you know what a therostat has to do with gas?"..... he didn't say anything thing again.
So much for the Maruti A.S.S!

Yes. same light. But I guess you meant... the light comes on as soon as you open the Blower.. provided the a/c switch is on .

If thats the case... Ac switch light is on... and compressor comes on and off. Then to me its an thermostat / auto cutoff issue or the blower switch (less probability)

This is only applicable if your ac is the company fitted stock ac.

I have a similar problem in my 800DX too... the AC comes on and off..
it starts cooling... and before its actually cold.. its off again.

EDIT: the thermostat thing can be a bit big on the pocket so solve.. in a Alto/Wagon it costs approx 2k. The cooling coil has to be removed & The gas needs to be refilled...

see........i have had 2 800's and both of them have given such problems and both times the problem has been pointed out to a faulty switch....90% of ppl dont use the switch too much ie keep it pressed so as soon as the blower is switched on the ac comes on.....i suggest when this happens you depress the switch and press it again to switch on and off.....get the switch checked at any reputed AC SERVICE CENTRE....not a maruti centre, the doinks there hardly know a thing about air conditioning....swift owners with climate control must watch out....so i suggest go to ppl who can point out your problem within minutes of switching the ac on
