Hi

All my anger is only after I got to know the truth
Had I booked car and got to know later it would had been an emotion so badly broken
This car is carrying more of a sentiment than just the monetary value

I was never furious or agitated over BMW or dealer during my whole discussion but when they tried to hide the facts that too so important it really turned things sour
I am only against these malpractices
When you are spending 30lacs on something is it not your right to get the latest item. Or know all the facts related to your purchase

Well' welcome to the club, Dhruv. I just picked up a 320d last month and was faced with a similar situation, slight BBB it more extreme though. A few things before we get to the main point of discussion - each BMW comes with a VIN number which tells you about the manufacturing date of the engine and then there is a assembly date of the engine, in India.
Most buyers (non team-bhp readers) may not know this tiny detail and is what EVERY dealership takes advantage of. From the dealer's perspective he can lift a 2012 chassis car and sell it to you as a 2013 model as the date on RC will be of 2013, without you really finding out.

Now to my case, cutting a very long story short - both NCR dealers decided to take me for a ride by verbally confirming a 2013 VIN number but when I brought out the check book, denied it. So to your case, take it easy... It's an old trick for them. Back to my ordeal, my dealership decided to increase the price after I had paid the advance for my car. That is when I finally blew my top and escalated it to BMW India, who while wrote back to say that they will not interfere in the commercial dealings of the dealer but did stick them on their behind and made then fall in line. And I finally took the delivery at the booking rate itself.

So, back to you -
Rule 1. Of car purchase - Without any advance, your price is not fixed and the dealer does have the right to revise the offer legally, if not morally.

Rule 2. With the current market scenario, customer is still the king. Let diwali pass - you may get the rates you wish for.

Rule 3 - Ask if the year being referred to, is of engine or assembly.

Rule 4 - purchasing a car needs to be a happy moment, Dont let some idiot spoil it for you.

Your two concerns are

1. Price Change - if they had changed the price and asked for more money AFTER you have booked the car, then it's wrong. You had not booked the car or paid any advance.

2. Year of Manufacturing - again, if they had taken advance from you for 2013 car and then going back or deliver a 2012 car, that is wrong.

Hi Johny,
I thank you for your valuable support provided but buddy just to mention few things
1. When you go to a showroom you believe that you would be shown the latest make and not the year old . If year old is shown it would be clearly mentioned
2. The dealership during whole conversation never mentioned that i was charged the price of 2013 model for a price of 2012 chassis.
3. I was about to book car, had already drawn cheque and just i got to know from this blog a friend about BMW's dealer practices, I saved myself just by a moment. So the damage was equivalent only.
4. Why is it that after booking only my situation would had been wrong according to you. Bro understand that pain of mistake done is almost same is mistake about to be done.

During my whole discussionn with BMW i blindly trusted them that they would be giving me the best. Where did my treating went wrong. All this anger is after the whole scene only.

Just my two cents.
Hi skylines,
Bro i am very sure about the 2012 chassis because when i asked them that which year make of car is they told that i shall get RC for 2013, to my doubt i again asked about the year of make to which i was told over call by their sales rep that its a 2012 make.

Regarding holding the car, if you check my screenshot i mailed the director that i am ready to lift the car in DIwali only if he confirmed the y ar of make to which immediately to save his side he said that he sold the car, whereas after 3 days of this reply my friend had gone to dealership for the same model and was told that the same vehicle in same color was available.

I am right now really upset about whatever happened and have already mailed the manager at BMW customer care, lets see what his reply comes.

Hi Rohan,
thanks for sharing your experience with me, the only difference i feel is that you blew the top after you booked the amount and i got to know the truth just before a day i was about to book. Saving few bucks to be stucked until some resolution could come out.

For the rule
Bro i am not against price changes, but if you see they soared prices by 21% from the last quoted price in the name of price hike. Is there any brand which hikes by this much %

Now i have understood from this experience that i should go in each and every tiny detail possible being not from an automobile industry but this one was a real eye opener.

Thanks for all your support.
Cheers...!!!

BMW 320d (E90) Combo Switch & Crankshaft Pulley Replacement

Hi,

I had my steering get very hard along with a battery charging error. This happened away from Bangalore and a local workshop root-caused this to Crankshaft Pulley failure. I had also been carrying a wiper control stalk failure (Combo Switch).

I would greatly appreciate if anyone is aware of approximate cost of parts (just trying to assess the damage).

This is 2009 320d Highline model.

Best Regards
NV
