Guys,
Yesterday i had a general checkup of my Waggy and the MASS Mandovi Motors Yeshwantpur suggested that the battery has become weak and may conk off anytime (a month or a week). As i'm planning to go on a tour for 3 days in ghat sections and no so good stretches, would precautions do i need to take care for battery not to die in middle of nowhere?
Also, as with many suggestions in this thread was looking at "AAM-PR-0050B20L" Amaron battery. Anybody used it? How is the performance from my stock? |
If it is the stock exide freedom, and it is more than three years old, junk it. The battery you are referring to is amaron pro, with 30 months replacement warranty. I got 50B20R for my SX4 two months back. As usual the old battery went dead and compared to that, the new battery helps in faster cranking speed, which is natural. Apart from that there will be no other difference.
I purchased the battery for Rs. 3500 from batterybhai. They delivered it the next day itself, ie I ordered it in the night and next morning got a call for fixing an appointment. The website has ties with distributors who will give you a printed receipt and also come to your place and install the battery. So far so good.

Thanks audioholic. The battery is 5.1 years old. Now the variant is been changed to "
50B20L".

Enquired with them (batterybhai.com guys)and they are quoting Rs.3650/- with old battery replacement. Is it good enough bargain with respect to Amaron Pitstop people quoting Rs.3800/- for the same?
Thanks,
Ramki
The change in lettering is not a variant change, but it is a code for the positive terminal placement, as mentioned in the previous posts in this discussions. You could ask in the amaron pitstop too, as I think each source will have some margins of its own. It is better to change the battery, that too given it is OE battery.
Hello,
I own an Ikon and getz 1.1. Getz battery is due for replacement. I vouch for the Motorcraft batteries provided by Ford. Getz has a 45aH battery. Ikon has a 36 aH Battery. What about new models of Ford, figo fiesta etc. Do they have 45 Ah Battery? Can I fit one of those in Getz (not about the space, but technically)?
Advice pleaseplease:

Diesel Fiesta has a 43/44 Ah battery(Motorcraft). Costs about 2.5-3k at ford service centres.

Dude, you don't need to post the same message thrice. Once will do. :D
I am aware Ford uses a Motorcraft 38AH battery in its Fiesta Diesel and possibly the same in petrol engine variants. These batteries are not available in the outside market AFAIK.
The first thing you need to do is check the size and type of battery i.e. is it under Japanese nomenclature (55B24, 46B24 etc) or DIN (DIN50, DIN55 etc) Also check for terminal orientation L or R. The current battery will provide you with these details
Exide, Amaron & SF make 45AH batteries for the Getz. For e.g. the Exiide Matrix MA45, or 55B24L in SF and Amaron.
You can check with your local dealer once you select a brand of your choice.
Guys, Between Amaron Go and Tata Green ( both DIN65) which one is better for swift Vdi? There is a price difference of 600 rupees between the two, Tata green being cheaper. Anyone have had any bad experience with Tata green?
A friend of mine is planning to change battery for his Viva CRDi - can someone please suggest a good brand? Appreciate your response

Amaron is definitely good. You can also check out Exide & Tata Green. Exide also sells a cheaper model under the Champion brand.
From last few days whenever I start my Karizma via self starter, the trip meter and clock resets, No matter if engine is cold or hot. I have filled distilled water recently and used the bike for few hundred kilometers to allow it to charge fully but the problem is still there.
Bike is taking self though cranking is little slow along with trip/clock resetting.
Battery is stock, 7ah - Amco brand which is now four years old. Over 16,000 KM on odo
What you guys suggest? Should I replace it now or use it until it dies permanently. What should be the perfect replacement?
Hi there, quick question. I have a 39 month old chevrolet beat petrol. At the oddest of times, it will have trouble starting, as in, it will crank for maybe 3 or 4 seconds before starting up. There's no set pattern to it, it just happens whenever, but not very common. I'm guessing its a battery issue due to the long time spent cranking. It comes with a 50ah oem exide battery.
I checked batterybhai, and they don't have an amaron option for 50ah, only sf sonic and exide. The closest one is a amaron 55ah battery which another website says will fit the car.
Two questions:
1. Can I use the 55ah battery with no harm(as in will the extra ah hurt the alternator regarding charging, or anything like that)?
2. How can I check the battery/get it checked? I told the service center 2 weeks ago when I went for service and they said the battery was fine. Today morning, it took nearly 4 seconds of cranking before it stuttered to life. I'm worried that if I take it to the battery shop/amaron store, they will tell me that the battery has to be replaced, just to get a sale. Is there any type of test which will tell me the truth?
Thanks for the help guys.
The Amaron showroom at Western Express Highway near Bisleri, andheri East is closed. Some travel booking agent is also selling Amaron batteries. does anyone have knowledge of the showroom shifting somewhere?
@bbyf16
Normally, battery lasts for about 3.5-4 years. In your case, I suspect the starter. You can get the sp.gravity checked at any battery outlet. You might get honest opinion from some.
For DIY, visually inspect for any leaks from cells. You can also check the battery voltage using a multimeter / voltmeter & know the condition.
In my opinion, higher rating (50 to 55 Ah) will be alright if dimensions are fine.

thanks for the reply. Up til now, I still haven't changed the battery, I wanted to see if there was any progression. My update is as follows:
1. Had gone to a battery shop in ahmedabad, told him I suspect my battery. I asked him to do a crank amp test, he said no need, and measured the specific gravity of each cell in the battery and said it was ok.
2. One month of trials have showed that if I have multiple short trips in the day, I seem to have trouble starting around the 4th time, and then it continues like that for each start.
3. If I go on a trip for say maybe 30 or 40 km in which traffic is moving along, the car starts up right away.
4. If i'm having trouble starting the car, turning off the stereo and a/c will help it start quickly. After that, using the a/c and stereo while the car is running, everything is fine. If I don't turn it off, then the car will crank for maybe 10-15 seconds now (instead of last months 4-5 seconds)
Does this help narrow it down to the battery or is it something else? Thanks for the advice guys.
