white smoke from exhaust...its Turbo baleno

I have a 05 Turbo baleno and I have alot of white smoke coming from the exhaust. Friends have told me its probally my head, others say the turbo or fuel from reliance petrol pump. the longer I run it the worse it gets, some days its smoking a little others alot. Also seems to smoke more when I get on the gas, but does smoke at idle.

can anyone tell me what should be the proper diameter of oil feed line and oil drain lines from turbo?

I was curious to what I should do to determine the problem and what u guys think the problem probally is.

Any feedback is good.

White smoke isn't good. Usually, it signifies fried rings, letting oil into the chamber, thus resulting in burnt oil and hence, white smoke. Check AFR and compression immediately. Could also be due to busted head gasket letting in oil- check your radiator and see if you find traces of rainbow-coloured patches. Or odd patches, if running anti-freeze coolants.

What turbo are you running? Which ECM?

Hey Mehul,

Just do what I suggested you to do and we shall take things from there. I am pretty sure you have fried your pistons.

Is it the same baleno which was mentioned in recent thread here

http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/modifi...ictures-3.html

The nick name is similar neo trace & neo_trace so i guess he is the same user, yes neo you have fried your piston rings/ head gasket, time to rebuild your engine this was bound to happen.

White smoke not good. The guys are right, it sounds like you've fried something.

Should be fixable though.

95% its yr rings.. but if u still want to confirm then first chek yr turbo ... if its leaking... also yr turbo oil feed line... if there is a lot of oil press it sometimes tends to throw drops of oil into the turbo which wud cause white smoke.... so u can restrict the line a little bit... if not all this then its time for a rebuild mate... al the best...

It reminds me of Sideways' previous turbo-lancer project.
The first time i was checking it out , it was bellowing white smoke and the discussion was about a disintegrated turbo-core.

In my case the car used to smoke at first start in the morning. Basically the CHRA had become defective and when the vehicle ws turned off it was letting oil from the turbo housing leak into the exhaust.

But once that oil got burnt / evaporated it was fine - i.e. no smoke while running.

But in Neo's case it looks like he's fried his engine. Sorry mate.

hi
today i went to mechanic
and he ristricted oil feed line with high press regulator then he loosened exhaust manifold and gasket from engine
but from engine there were no smoke only u can feel gases by hand, u cant see (i didnt see any white smoke from engine)

coolant is fine
spark plugs are clean too
oil level and pressure are same (as in 2 days)
no voice in engine
same accelaration and power as i felt before
no oil in to intake body or intercooler or BOV
Temp. normal of engine and oil
no smoke in head pipe( a small pipe betN head and intake air pipe with humidity sensor)

__AND today white smoke was showing up low and sometimes only

smoking is a yesterday's problem and i replaced new oil feed line 10 days ago

New custom made oil feed line was sending more oil in to turbo (i have checked today that in @10 seconds of engine run, oil feed line was sending quite more than a half litre oil to turbo...and i think its very much .....now i have restircted line)

i think overfilling oil in the turbo with new bigger dia oil feed line has caused leakage from turbo seals and exhaust is burnning oil

Any feedback is good.

well then as per what you have checked the engine is perfect... its definately the turbo.... chek yr oil feed line again n also the oil exit path from the turbo to the chamber... the outlet pipe of the turbo oil line shud be atleast an inch above from where the chamber starts .. orelse the oil wud stay in the turbo causing a leak n throw white smoke... ..it wnt effect yr engine in n e way only the oil level wud decrease n decrease the life of the turbo......

good luck

white smoke

Seems you have tried out almost everything and most writers are pointing to either fried rings or pistons....Just a suggestion, try filling nirmal petrol (without additives) from a different pump. A friend of mine who uses a Diesel Safari (turbo) had a similar prob and coincidentally used to fill gas from primarily reliance joint or else the Hi-speed from BP. His problem vanished after he changed pumps and started filling normal diesel..

Experts please comment...

Neo, you are absolutely right about the oil feed line, would reccomend putting in a 100 jet in between the oil feed line and the turbo to make sure that the feed is continually restricted, another reason why this tends to happen is if the oil out from the turbo does not flow freely into the engine sump, please check as this would cause an immediate turbo failure.

Yes burning oil produces blue smoke, the white smoke is due to the oil evaporating in the exhaust housing of the turbo, key reasons for this, extreme oil pressure/volume and busted oil seal ring.

White smoke is basically due to high engine oil consumption, or due to use of additive fuel (like: turbo diesel, premium, super, speed, etc.....).
Please take your vehicle to dealer to resolve.
