No info asked by him to reply on forum

My mini ELM which I bought on eBay worked for six months and went kaput. The green light never comes on.

I recently installed ELM 327 in my Sx4 2012 and paired this Samsung Tablet using Torque application. There is no issue in pairing, but unfortunately all the readings of various parameters are not being communicated to the app. Even tried, fun2drive, but only reading for Engine RPM, Coolant temp, speed are visible. Even the turbo boost reading is not appropriate. There seems to be considerable lag b/w the engine working and readings. Any thoughts?

Amit

Do check with ebay vendor, some have 6months warranty and can be replaced

I've dashed off an email to the seller. He is still selling the stuff. I hope he offers a refund.

I'm answering assuming the SX-4 uses the same communication protocol as the Ritz. The Ritz uses the K-Line protocol, which is slower than the CAN protocol. That could explain the lag. Regarding visible measurements, it might be because Maruti did not want too much data to be read out in the conventional way.

Hi

Guys, I recently got a ELM327 mini OBD2 connector for my Ciaz. Now the problem is the adapter connects fine however the app is stuck at looking for a protocol and there is some random code that it's trying to read. I tried everything but no luck.

Can you guys help me out? Thanks

All you knowledgeable folk out there,
Being pretty ignorant about a lot of stuff being discussed here I have a few queries:
1) I have a 2011 Toyota Etios (V-Petrol) - where do I find the OBD 2 port in this car? I believe this car has one since I had read an earlier post confirming this.
2) Which would be the best scanner for this - Elm 327 or Scangauge?
3) If Elm 327, does it always have to be linked thru Blutooth to an Android device for reading off the parameters or is there a model with an attached display?
4) Would any of the above give me readings wrt fuel for a) distance to empty b) average fuel consumption
5) Lastly, can any of these or other similar devices be sourced locally in Bangalore or alternatively who is the best online supplier and at what cost?

Many thanks in advance for a quickish reply!

It is above the accelerator pedal area, near the drivers right knee behind the dashboard. Bend down to see it exposed.

I recommend the ELM 327. Been using some 4 years! Reliable and not a battery drainer.

There are choices of Bluetooth one or USB type that get connected to your laptop.

Attached display not available. If you want a stand alone type - but a cheap android tablet and get the ELM 327 paired permanently.

A) Doesn't work
B) Yes it does give out data on Average FE.

BHPian Devrajman is in Bangalore where you can source it from him and that is his handle on Team-BHP.

A4anurag - many thanks for your quick reply. Much appreciated.

Devrajman - If you get around to reading this how do I source this from you? (I am unable to PM Devrajman being a 'newbie' on this forum and not entitled to the privilege!)

Perhaps some kindly soul could do so on my behalf! Thanks in advance !

I have sent him a PM.

BTW, which car are you looking to buy the OBD reader for?

Many thanks a4anurag.

Like I'd mentioned in my earlier post it's for my Toyota Etios (2011-V-Petrol).
I hope the ELM 327 is compatible with this car!

Oops, sorry, I forgot it.

I hope it works as I have seen that Toyota cars aren't friendly with the ELM 327. Do try it out before purchasing.
