At least, my ELX can't be locked by pressing the door lock lever while getting out of the car.
What happens when you press either front door lock lever (to lock the door) while climbing out with the door open, the central locking system simply goes back to release mode. I always thought it was a neat feature! |
Its the same on the Ikon as well as other Fords.
Ofcourse, that cant stop you from locking the keys in the boot, and if there is no boot release lever. :D

For my zen, there is a workaround. While locking you have to pull the door lever and then lock it. In this case it was possible. Did you try this?

At least 3 times. Happened to a friend 2 times in college.
Always went to the sheet metal workshop to fashion long scales to trip the lever. Almost became routine. :P
It happened once for me.
Car: 2002 Toyota Corolla CE (in US)
Place: Airport - Pickup/Drop off point (~2 min parking allowed)
I went to airport to drop my wife (Atlanta ATL) to catch a flight to India, the car is ALL Manual type and as usual i pressed the lock knob & shut the door.
Same thing my wife did at the other side.... I got shocked as 'Now what'.
She was having the flight in an hr and half.
But one gentleman (works for the curb side checkin counter) came and offered me help.
He just inserted a small flat rod between door and body and inserted a long rod to pop open the knob.
I was all wet until i opened the door. :) :)
2 times in my Alto but I was able to open it.
Recently went to a trip with my friend in his i10. Forgot the key, tried calling the service station but no luck. After trying all the usual tricks we broke the backside small window with a big pointed stone.
Surely many times this had happened to my father. This feature should be there in cars- when we forget to take keys from cars , there should be an alarm and will not lock the car. This would save time which is a huge convenience.

I did it once. Near Agriculture college Deccan I closed the doors with all door notches down and keys inside M800 (1997 Model). Luckily the key makers was only 2 blocks away (Model Colony chowk/square lol). I spent 50 bucks on the rickshaw and 100 bucks for opening the doors. the Keymaker had and old Maruti 800 key which he inserted effortlessly in the slot twisted it and opened the door. I pulled my key paid the autoguy to drop him back and went my way. It was scary. These guys can open any 800 or any old car for that matter.

What ? Broke the quarter glass ?:Shockked:Ithink they are pretty difficult tofix them back.Poor friend .Why did not you use the "beading method" .
My lunchmate told me the story of how he locked himself out WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING in the McDonald's parking lot last week. He tried using a scale to pry the door open but it wouldn't work, so he figured he needed to get a bigger scale. He left the car there and went on a friend's bike to a shop nearby to buy the bigger scale. That did the trick.
I heard all this, and then asked him: what if someone had managed to open it in your absence and drive the car away? He hadn't thought of this at all!
Found an Audi sitting in the Bangalore Club covered. Told the President that you are converting the place into a long term parking garage - reply
The owner locked both keys inside so needs to wait for a new set to come from Germany
I have an i10 sports 2008 November model. lost one key long time back and one recently down the gutter. I have a way to open the car, however when the service center guys have come in to have a look, they took down the VIN number and have gone back and reported that they do not know whether they should order the lock set with immobolizer or without it as against the VIN they are seeing both the options.
any one has any clues on whether i10 sports late 2008 came with immobolizer or without it?
any help appreciated. I asked them to use their sales to contact a few owners of the same model same year same time to check.
Thanks

I think 2008 models did not come with immobiliser.
IIRC, immobiliser was added in the BS4 models.

yeah, been there done that.
Had gone to visit a friend in the Pune suburbs (PCMC) in winter 2007. After a hearty gujju dinner, we return to our Wagon R and find that the keys have been left in the ignition. Finding a key fellow at 11pm on a weekday at that place is impossible.
So we take my friend's Activa and return home shivering in the cold. The next morning I return with the spare keys and pick up the WagonR. Been extra careful ever since.
Have been locked out many times in my old M800(1999 model).
have walked back home and get replacement or call up my bro and get him to come.
but there were times which had weird outcomes.
once i locked myself outside at church and my friends showed me(first time) how to unlock using a scale!!!
secondly was a situation were it happened many a times..unlocking the dickey using the kinetic honda key and assessing the front door!!
Anybody, mind to share a walkthrough how to open the locked door with ruler or anything?I always wonder how they do that. Some photos will do great.
Thanks in advance
