I have a link to a website which has every single part named and every single exploded diagram for the ohc. Its on my ipad and i can give it to you later on. Its absolutely brilliant if you want to gain more knowledge specifically on our ohc's. I downloaded all the images just in case the site ever decides to shut down. Its very helpful when your wondering what part is what and what part is named what. The only problem is i don't know if the engine is specific for the 1.3 or 1.5 or the vtech.
Everywhere i get different answers. On wikipedia its different ,on this particular site its different and on other ohc (sx8) sites its different.
For instance some where i read d13b or d15b..but then on other sites it says d15b was never manufactured for the period 2000 to 2004.
If any one has the particular model number or engine code for the 1.5 manual 2001 ohc please share it with us.

Re: 1st Gen Honda City Owners - Problems Areas, Fuel Efficiency and more

Got my Clutch replaced yesterday. The pedal is feeling quite soft now. The pulling and pick-up has improved.
But there is low rpm shudder when I slowly release the clutch. What could be the reason?

For reference following things replaced
Clutch Set (Exedy) - 3800
Clutch Bearing (NSK) - 980
Clutch Wire - 310
Flywheel bearing (Nachi) - 140
Labor - 700

Regards

Re: 1st Gen Honda City Owners - Problems Areas, Fuel Efficiency and more

Update on my broken crank pulley issue:
Finally gave it to Solitaire Honda service center(Borivali) and got it replaced. Had to replace the P/S, alternator and AC belt as well since they were worn out too.
Service Bill:
Pulley - 7881
AC belt - 715
P/S belt - 1179
Alternator belt - 653
Labor - 1500

I also asked them to do a 60K kms service check, and they came up with additional items that need attention:
1. Gear Box casing damage (No Leakage)
2. Oil Sump damage (No leakage)
3. Subframe 'I' bim major damage
4. P/S rack leak
5. Left axle Oil Outer Boot repair
6. Front and rear dampers weak
7. Engine Rear mount broken
8. Silencer A,B & C part damage

Any suggestions on these above items and approx cost involved. I am looking to find a good garage and source parts from Opera House. Pranav has given me a garage contact in Opera House for P/S rack leak and Subframe damage repair. Would check out this week and get some of these if not all resolved.

Thanks,
Vinay

Need to get my rear left door done. As the rust is building up. I've mentioned this earlier but haven't really gotten down to doing it. But the the moment I get a breather from work ill be onto it.
The thing I'm confused about is whether to do metal work aka patch work and get it painted or to get a used door from cst road which would be in a good condition and then re paint it. Some folks had told me that to get the alignment would be a big issue. I'm confused. Has anyone replaced their rear door. Just to mention I'm getting it done from a local garage guy and not honda service centres.

NOthing special in getting it done at Honda S.S. Infact a good workshop will do it much much better.
Two options have two different cost implications.
Getting a used door will be expensive over getting patch work done but recommended. Considering the city weather new would be a rational option.

If the rust you are talking about is building up at the bottom near the wheel arch, it is very very common issue for OHC. A used door would be at least 9 years old and would likely suffer from the same problem unless the patch work was done previously; so, even if you buy a used door - you may end up a door with patch work; ultimately if the patch work is the solution, why complicate things regarding alignment, etc.; hence, my suggestion would be to patch your current door up and paint it.

I had got done the patch work on right rear door for my OHC sometime in 2010, and on the left door in 2011 when I got the entire car repainted and the work has held up well so far.

I am looking for something really bright, don't mind if it is NOT effective in cutting fog.

Go back a few pages Kaushik and you will find posts by Screwdriva regarding the fog lights. Cost was some 4k.

Re: 1st Gen Honda City Owners - Problems Areas, Fuel Efficiency and more

Wish you a Happy New Year Bhpian's

So was wondering if you can help me this issue,

Issue 1 - For the Rear Suspensions should i Go in for the Gas shocks or Normal Ones , my mechanic has said he will install new mungal showas (from what i hear these are not available so not sure about this )

Issue 2 - Car's behaving weird, \ it feels underpowered when driving , so while driving i just turn the ignition off and put it on instantly the car feels powerful again , i cant understand what is happening here is it some electronic issue , since the lights on the odometer brighten up when the power feels ok.

Re: 1st Gen Honda City Owners - Problems Areas, Fuel Efficiency and more

Did 65 K servicing today the car is smooth apart from some small sound in uneven road.
HASS is saying it is due for shock overhaul which is an expensive affair 15 - 20 k as per their rough estimate.

Below are their Recommendations
1) Need to do Front both shock replace
2) Stabilizer bar bush replace
3) Lower arm bush pressing ??
4) Caliper metaling
5) Radius tapping

The first 3 points I understood, but I am clue less on the point 4 & 5 any guess what is this
Does it make sense to do the bush replace 2 & 3 with out replacing the shocks ?
Need to save some money here . I think the bushes wont be that expensive .
OHC Gurus thoughts please ..

Re: 1st Gen Honda City Owners - Problems Areas, Fuel Efficiency and more

LOL. Caliper metaling and radius tapping? Is Honda authorised SS switching to desi lingo for their parts now?

Ask for a proper explanation. That doesn't make any sense. Good thing they didn't include blinker fluid or muffler bearing replacement in the list.

Issue 1 : Check with Shetty. He as usual should have it or should have the TRW's in stock. The TRW's are not bad either

Issues 2: No idea.. never faced it. Alternator? also when was the last time you got the engine tuned/TB or Injectors serviced?
