Please release the clutch slowly - I think page 78 (of the manual) says this. The gentler the release, the lower the jerks.

In the manual, It mentions release the clutch gradually.What i meant was, in stop and go traffic, there is a tendency to keep the clutch pressed for a longer time during release. And within this time the engine RPM also goes down and will cause vibrations.In releasing quickly i meant release at a uniform pace(leg moving up at constant speed) but do it faster than he does it usually.

Well I am not experiencing any jerks while releasing the clutch
Its while driving.

Do you experience jerks during sudden acceleration/de-acceleration or when ?

Is it the kind of jerks when engine just dies for a fraction os second and then fine again.

please elaborate.

Hi Rahulk76, have experienced these jerks as well, but they were in the 5th gear, or maybe i haven't caught them happen in the lower gears. But this is not bothering me much. I downshift to 4th, accelerate, and then resume in the 5th gear.

i think and suspect that this kind of jerks should be due to faulty fuel delivery, please get all HP lines/Fuel filter etc checked.

One thing i forgot to ask : i know its very difficult to observe but is Engine Mal Function light comes on during these jerks ?

back after a long hiatus.
Safari was parked for the last 8months, with a weekly ignition schedule. Since i will be home for 2 weeks i want to drive it to ooty and madikeri( 600+kms). I will have it serviced, but is there any special warming up of the engine required, or i can straight take to my trips.
PLz advice as i have 2 weeks to be back home ?

Just do the standard checks and adjust accordingly, brake fluid, engine oil tyre pressure etc.. and don't forget the 30second idle thingy then you're good to go:)

Does anyone know what's the average brake pad life for 2.2 ?

Its same for 2.2 or 3.0 and 20k should be just it.

I have changed Brake Pads at 20k and now planning to do at 40 as they have faded a lot.

Got them cleaned + rear drums cleaned every 10k kms.

should cost 3k+

Mine lasted 45k. Depends on driving style and traffic condition.

thats really too much so i guess its all got to do with Driving Style then.

1. My Safari is 2 months old, 2800 Kms & first servicing done. From begining it's pulling to left. I have to continiously put a little right steer to keep it straight. During/after long drives, my right upper arm is having a little bit of pain. Wheel alignment, wheel rotation, tyre rotation already done twice ( all at TASS) as suggested by many people here, before the vehicle ran 1500 Kms, during my last 4 visits to TASS. Then I have left it till now hoping that if any issues with tyres it may settle after some run. But till now no improvements.

In fact besdies pulling to left, it was dragging to left while braking, which has been rectified by TASS during my second visit to them.

Any suggestions to rectify this problem please!

Sounds like an alignment problem. My experience is that the TASC's are not normally great when it comes to wheel balancing. Why dont you try to get the alignment done at a separate place outside the TASC?
