I can't recall reading that in the user manual, never had that problem either though my ac usage is quite low. Anyone else had this issue?

You should check your tyre pressue weekly, the tyres will last longer that way, you won't feel much difference as you become accoustomed, it's safer to keep your tyre pressue near optimal at all times, you may not need to fill them everytime, get one of those little hand held gauges, then if you need to fill go to the nearest tyrewallah.

Haven't noticed it yet, since I have not yet pushed the vehicle till now.

But yes, I have noticed this in the Indica, I reckon it was the V2, and in my drive from Cochin to Palaghat, I was very much impressed with this feature. Floor the accelerator and the ac is cut off ensuring full power to the engine. Wouldn't be surprised if the Safari also has the similar feature.

Was this driving on an incline, like a ghat or mountain with lights and other ancilleries swithched on?

^^ Nope. Plain road; while overtaking coming down to 4/3rd gear and acceleration kind of scenario and it was during day time, with no a/c.

@stefanm,I got this information from a service advisor, don't think it is written anywhere in the manual. I felt this as a useful feature, no need to worry. :)

Guys, if it's a feature to cut the AC off only for the engine to harness more power/torque, then i feel it's a no-brainer. You just can't drive around with 4 people seated in and foggy glass all around, more so when it's raining. The engine was not pushed either, in any of the gears (have upshifted at about 1750rpm or so, in the lower gears, but not beyond that rpm). The radiator fan was running, and the engine temperature was slightly beyond the half mark (< 5 deg.). So why this cut off?

Never ever went through such situations on any of the ghat section drives at day or night with 100% AC.

You don't need to go in an incline to simulate this. Just engage the first gear (and keeping the clutch pedal pressed, to remain stationary) ; push the accelerator beyond 2k RPM. With the windows down, you can hear the distinctive "TAK" sound of the compressor kick-out.

I was told that this is only for the 1st & 2nd gear, to conserve power by a Service Engineer

Somehow I dont like the follow me home Head Lamp function in the Safari. It must drain the battery a lot, especially as I have HID's.As of now what I do is immediately put on the parking lights and switch them off when the head lamps come on at night after opening the door. This switches off the head lamps and tehy don't stay on for long.
Is it possible to have an option of enabling/disabling it....

After getting out, you can even press "Unlock" button first and then the "Lock" button on your remote, that will take care of it.

Thanks for the tip Dadu, I was about to ask if the 'Follow Me Home' feature can be disabled. It's quite irritable being told "Saar, headlights are not switched off" everytime one locks the car in the evening.

Just a clarifier, this does not disable them but its a method to switch them off immediately. I posted this long time back in this thread only. :)

The drive by wire on the Safari is very sensitive to throttle inputs. If you blip the throttle the ac cuts off. This can happen while normal driving or climbing even. If the ac cuts off while climbing, its probably because you blipped too fast. I used to experience this earlier until I realised That it was my fault and not a technical snag. Ever since this does not happen any more.
