Finally the issue was a damaged/shorted ECU due to water entering the ECU assembly. Finally he had to get his ECU replaced and the problem went away completely.

I suspect your ECU must have got damaged with the original water wash and you have been getting false alerts for other sensors. You should try to get your ECU replaced by Tata. Although your car is out of warranty now, I suggest you try to work it out with Tata as you have been raising the problem when it was under warranty.
Thanks for the info.
I get the engine washed with a high pressure gun at my 'outside service centre' everytime and he shoots water all over the engine bay.
Ive had no problems ever, but maybe I should be more careful.

So are we saying, that , no water wash inside the engine bay?

Not really. As long as the ECU cover is fitted properly, it should be ok. Engine bay wash is definitely required once in a while, especially after a long monsoon drive, when the interiors tend to get really dirty.

Yes Dadu. Ur right. No retro for my Safari. Im glad my TASS hasnt heard about it yet.

My Safari will go in for the 45k service shortly. I had changed all the 4wd transmission fluids etc at 15k. I think its due to be changed again at 45k too.

Apart from that they will change the air filter which has begun to redline.
Is fuel filter too to be changed in this service..?
What else is changed at 45k ? WHat about diff n gearbox oils ?

Im going to personally monitor this service, especially since they will change the 4x4 tranny fluids.

Jay, ECU cover is one thing at least you must get. Even I did not get called for retro, but the first of the first batch 2.2s does have one fantastic tight cover unlike the even retro cover.

As seen from the page 117 of the manual, no pressure water wash for me. I tell the outside servicemen to use blast of air pressure instead.

Quote:
Page 117
CAUTIONS
• DO NOT wash engine compartment with high pressure water

and on page 148

• Precautions to be taken while cleaning engine compartment: It is recommended to use dry low pressure air. Do not use pressurized water.

Seems rear tyres dragging

In my dicor(ODO-20500 Kms) yesterday occasionally 4H light blinks & stays continuously on for some time & then will go for some time but pop up again after some time. I also felt vibrations in the vehicle.I also noticed rear left & right tyres slipping quite hard when taking full left & right turns respectively. Also i noticed skid tyres marks(like hard braking lines) on concrete road during normal driving .
I haven't extensively used my vehicle/4x4 but when i'm at home i try to use it.
What may be the possible cause ,Is 4H/4L engaging automatically or some major issue.

Air filter has to changed at 45k kms or if the Red band appears

Fuel filter to be changed every 30k kms so if you have changed it in the previous service, no need now.

Gearbox oil has to be changed at 45k kms and then at 90k kms.

Since you have changed both differential oil's at 15k, now its required only at 90k kms. (every 30k kms if driving in city or rugged terrain)

@Jay:

I think it is fine to wash your engine. I do it for my Scorpio, but I make sure that they decrease the force to more of a splash than full blast force. Also the newer ECU covers are pretty tight, the issues could be a combination of bad luck, non covered ECU and too much force.

@Rohit:

What terrain where you using 4x4? You must be aware that you can use 4x4 only in slippery conditions. I feel that the feeling you get is because you are using 4x4 on dry/on slippery conditions. Please clarify the terrain.

You need not 'adopt' the entire retro package to get the ECU cover. In my opinion, ECU cover is a must!!

I would prefer to go strictly by the service manual here.

Yeah,I'm aware of the terrain & in reality I always go through the 4x4 engaging/dis-engaging procedure. It was automatically engaging while switch was still on 2H.I always used 4X4 in muddy slippery conditions.

Clutch spring or pressure plate issue?

My clutch pedal wont return fully from yesterday eve. Initially thought clutch went kaput as I had only 2-3 inch play to change gear. Gear shifts work fine and drives well apart from the clutch staying far down than its usual height.

What would have happened? Spring issue or so or pressure plate? The pedal reverts back to normal position if I pull it with a my hand or leg.

Looks like an issue with the switch itself. What did TASS about this?

If the pedal is coming back on pulling, first suspect, it looks like the pull back spring is stuck. WD40?

This would mean that gear is sitting at a partial engaged position till you pull it out.

Air in clutch system.. Get it bleeded and everything would return to normal.
Its mentioned in the manual as well

Either your clutch oil is too old or AIR in the clutch hydraulic system, as mentioned by Rahul.
